Maybe never having played Empire Deluxe worked in my advantage in liking Empires of Steel.

I suspect not "hate" so much as "never heard/not even aware of"...

Come on guys...this is just silly.  Panzer Corps is on Greenlight.  If it doesn't get enough votes, its not Steam's vault.

I'm sure Steam is aware of Empires of Steel and Panzer Corps, there are webs sites that have metrics for every computer game sold. What I don't understand, how do games like (La-Mulana, Papo & Yo, and tons of other no name games) get on Steam, yet something like Panzer Corps has to be Greenlighted?

You're right.  Clearly, it is an international Steam conspiracy against wargames.

...and by the way, La Mulana did enter steam through greenlight.  Papo & Yo does not seem to have been greenlit, but it is award winning, and not exactly a "no name game."  I do agree though, its not a game I would want to play either.  ;)

Need to clarify two things: 


1.)  You're indeed correct that, strictly speaking, my statement was inaccurate.  What I should have said was, "Those who vote for Greenlight-nominated games on Steam are generally unaware of wargames."  In fact, I give kudos to Steam for having wargames available for potential Greenlighting at all. 

2.)  My statement was not intended as a criticism in any case.  Yes, I certainly *wish* folks were more aware of wargames, but I don't blame them for not being so. 


If there is a "conspiracy", it's merely one of ignorance.

Both of those games were already somewhat known in the general gaming public as they'd been out for a year or so on consoles as downloadable titles, and they were well received there. Panzer Corps is known to...uhhh...well, us and other similar communities. So you have 2 indie games that have already proven successful and have a bit of a buzz vs. another that doesn't have the same amount of buzz.

Beyond that, if a game is produced by a publisher already on Steam, that makes it a lot easier for future releases from that company to be sold on Steam as well. They're already a known entity on the platform, so they don't necessarily have to jump through the Greenlight hoop any longer.
