New, free-to-play browser based collectible card rpg thingy: www.cardhunter.com

They just opened the beta up and are sending out invites by the hundreds.  I registered for the beta several months ago, and was pleasantly surprised to find an invite in my mailbox yesterday.

So far I've played the two tutorial battles and the tutorial campaign. The game certainly captures the feel of a tabletop role playing game, which is both good and bad. So far it is little more than a hack 'n slash loot grind. I'd like to see it open up with more of a branching story and decision points. Also, three races/three classes (human,dwarf,elf - fighter,healer,spellcaster) is a good start, but I hope they add more by release.

That said, this is the first ftp browser game I've actually enjoyed and plan on returning to. The combat is tactical and can be challenging, and the cards appear interesting so far, with a wide range of effects. I don't know how significant the ability to purchase better loot will be in the single player game, but it's not something that concerns me at the moment.

Right now my biggest beef is that there doesn't appear to be a way to rotate the board

Just got a couple of rounds in. This is fun. Simple gameplay but a nice way to spend some time.
