Really?  To what effect?  Why would you walk around a city, leaving it in your rear?

I liked the city-view feature too. The only time you get to actually see what the cities look like in the other games is when assaulting or defending them. Rome TW was my first TW game and I've been hooked ever since. I actually finished the campaign once each as all 3 of the Roman factions. My favorite TW campaign was the RTW add-on Barbarian Invasion, playing as the 2 Roman factions. It was more about managing and maintaining what you already had than conquering new territories and was a real challenge. Of course leaving a trail of absolute destruction in your wake as the Huns was fun too.

Yeah the Barbarian Invasion campaign is probably one of my favorites too. I love the Dark Age era.

The Chivalry 2 mod for M2TW has a Dark Age time start in 800 AD. But it still feels more like Middle Ages. I won the BI campaign as the Eastern Romans but couldn't get close as the Westerners.

And I was educated in the 1980s so between 400 and 1000 AD will always be the Dark Ages to me. Unless our own time proves to be, you know...more darker.

I'd forgotten about this feature, but I agree it was very cool.  It was one of the few things I liked about that game; wish it would make a return!

Same here.  I've since learned it's technically not correct (even before SoM began attempting to educate us), but the term being synonymous with that particular time period has long been burned into my skull.
