According to the few betatesters, UI is one of the things they're improving along with a facelift to all the unit sprites. I'm waiting to hear more about what they did with the existing nations; will it still be three distinct ages or do they have a new mechanic to add variety and flavour to the nations. I guess the subtitle "Thrones of Ascension" might have a clue in it.

In all ways, that looks to be the case.  Hell.. I see their older Dominion titles are even on sale now on Desura.  ???  They obviously had a big influx after spreading the joy.

Hopefully it doesn't take another four years for Dom4 to see the light of day.  :D

Dominions 3 isn't doing too well in Greenlight and I'm not really that surprised. The video they have up there is just simply horrible -- it doesn't really highlight any of the cool stuff about the game or even explain the game, or anything really, and is generally quite confusing. They might know how to make a great strategy game but they sure as hell are lousy marketers. I hope Dominions 4 doesn't suffer from this same curse. Even a little bit of effort put into presenting the game to new players would go a long way.

Faux, after reading your post I went to take a look at the videos myself.  You're not wrong.  The first video is like watching someone play who's just going about his business and will leave newbies completely puzzled.  The second video is a half-hour "let's play" which doesn't actually show any gameplay!  Rubbish.

I saw somewhere that Dom 4 was going be a F2P on-line game, where you buy slots for pretenders and new races. Anyone know if this is true or have more info?

From what is sounds like, it may have already been in production for four years at the moment. Quarter2Three has a beta tester talking and I swear he was discussing changes made from 2008!
