Good point since the card collection wasn't with Coulson when he 'died' so it wasn't his blood on the cards...

There's been a lot of speculation about whether or not Coulson actually died in Avengers. Given that it's the Marvel universe, I'm going with, "No".

Also, Clark Gregg (the actor who played Coulson) mentioned in an interview somewhere that he'd been specifically informed by Whedon that his character would return.

The promotion is wide-spread.  Marvel Avengers Alliance just added Agent Colson as a character!  Woohoo!
