Tank statistics

If you were a tanker in ww2 how big was your chance to survive the destruction of your vehicle? is there data where one could see the survival chance of the crew? i guess that was quite different from tank to tank or if your vehicle was destroyed by tank / at or air.

any info is appreciated!

Beware. There are lies, damn lies, and statistics.

So when you're looking at said stats, be sure you know what you're looking at. The US often "recycled" destroyed equipment. When you're looking at said stats of "killed" tanks be sure your source takes into account whether cycling back a destroyed tank counted as a kill or not.

if you were in a M-4 or T-34 your chances were not good.

OTOH, inside a Matilda II (early in the war) or ISU-152 was not a bad place to be, all things considered.

I'd at least opt for the Elefant upgrade w/ MG and top cupola. The PaK43 was a fearsome AT gun but not the best thing for hosing pissed-off sticky-bomb-totin' Heroes-of-the-Motherland from your hull and upper deck.
