Any feedback on Carrier Command?  I have had it in my wish list but never purchased as the issues I heard early on.  Now that it is 75% off I am looking at it again.

The idea is to obviously rotate units into the fray & out but in the first couple campaigns (the smaller ones), there isn't enough units available to properly do so while still expecting to push on and achieve a win by the end of the time limit.   Perhaps it's easier to do in the larger campaigns because you have more troops, but then again you also have more area to cover so I dunno.  I haven't played the larger ones (yet!) because I got caught up in building 'decks' and playing them against the AI in skirmishes so much.  That's a good thing because there's still a lot of gaming to be had with it.  ;D

Interesting.  Well thanks for your honest input.  I think I'll pass though.  I was really looking forward to a grand campaign set in all of Europe not just Scandinavia and not a rush job or you lose type of thing.  Maybe later when the price drops to 10 or less I will pick this up.

I like it.  There are still people claiming that the AI is braindead, but I honestly don't see evidence of it now.  Perhaps I just suck so I don't notice!  Crucially, I did see braindead AI when I first bought the game, and it would crash too, but the issues I personally have had have been fixed.  For 75% off I'd say go for it if you're interested.  I think it's a worthy successor to the original.

I tell a lie, there's one issue remaining, although it seems to be by design - you can't speed up time (timewarp) unless you're moving your carrier to another island, so make use of your supply barque and always have fuel on board!

Thanks Huw, that is why I always rely on GrogHeads for feedback.  It is hard sometimes to discern information on the forums as to what are really issues and what are just personal beefs. I think I will pick this one up....

OOTP14 is definitely on my radar also - but I want to check out the changes between that and 13 before I do purchase - otherwise I'll wait for 15

I don't think OOTP14 will get any cheaper than the 50% discount it's currently at, for the next day or so.   It'll be at least another year until OOTP15 reaches this pricetag, too.  Just a heads-up.

I keep seeing veteran players say 14 is worth getting, even after owning 13, but I guess that depends on whether you play it.  It sounds like a fair amount of work went into improving player advancement and other things 'under the hood', aside from some small additions such as the extra International recruiting and player rating change logs. 

It's a good bargain on the current $20 sale, but if you can wait another year then no worries.

I've been debating picking up Football Manager 2013 despite the possibility of not playing it much (not a big fan of the sport).  My biggest concern, however, is whether I get to participate in any rookie drafts.  I don't think most footie leagues even have that, other than the American one perhaps(?) and it's one of my favorite things about these GM sims.  Plus, I have Franchise Hockey Manager slowly approaching a finished state and that will probably hold my attention in a couple months, in it's place.  I just talked myself out of FM2013 hah!  Take that Summer Sales!

You're welcome.  I hate the rare occasion when someone buys a game on my recommendation and can't get on with it, so I never recommend a game until I'm sure it's playable.  Some people will never be happy with Carrier Command, and when it first came out it really was a mess.  It's eminently playable now though.

I picked up Dragon Age Ultimate Edition for $9 and F.E.A.R. with the two DLC for $5.  I was tempted to go for FEAR Complete for $14, but everything I read said 2 and 3 sucked so I went with the cheaper option.  Given that it is unlikely I will finish even these two games before the Christmas sale, I think I'll be ok with the missing content.

Still holding out for Dead Space to hit 70% off...

Sins of a Solar Empire - bought it on the Steam sale. Played a couple of tutorials and thought "I've played this before". A quick trip to the loft saw me pull out SoaSE box!!

I understand why people enjoy it, but I hated it.  I'd been buying into all the pre-release hype about it being some kind of "Elite-beater" (which it absolutely isn't).  In actual fact it's just a shoot-em-up with ridiculously simplified trading and a pervasive sense that the universe exists only for the player.  Not what I was expecting at all.

Freeworlds is one reason a lot of people picked it back up.... http://www.freeworlds-tow.net/  Not sure where it is at in development as I never followed it.

Aaaaaaa.... I broke down and bought Reus, heard good things about it and picked it up.  So like I said in the beginning, just going to pick up one or two things  :o  But to be fair, everything I have purchased was on my wish list....
