For the last few days Steam has been saying it's in "offline mode" except it's online  ::)

Also all the time counts for each of my Steam games are nerfed and some don't show at all.

Anyone experience this before and know what is up?

Exit Steam completely and restart.

Steelgrave

Ditto, had the same thing happen and restarting fixed it.

Do you have steam running on more than one computer logged into the same account?

Gusington

No just one machine...has my account been hacked or something?

So to exit Steam completely I have to use Task Manager eh, because it's still rinning when you close the main on screen panel?

No just go to the Steam tab in the upper left corner of your client and click exit.  It will synch and close any games that need to be done and then the client shuts down.  Then just use your Steam.exe to restart and it will check for updates and then load your client.  It basically refreshes the Steam browser.

Gusington

Cool I will try that. Steam usually behaves with me, not sure what happened here.

OK it works fine now. What causes that in the first place? Bad luck?

No sometimes Steam just gets stuck, so it's always a good idea to restart it every few days.

I've found that too. I first got wise to it when it said it had lost my login info on the computer. It turned out to be a "porky pie" as soon as I went on line, it miraculously found the login info... go figure what was happening...BTW the first thing that happened was that I was directed to Steam's Store page. Sorry Valve that's not the way to getting me to spend money with you.

I don't tend to play multiplayer save for pbem games. I almost always play the games on Steam offline, so all this did was just piss me off for no good reason.

That happens to me all the time. I normally use offline mode. After a few weeks it refuses forcing me to bypass my router to let it reset. BS.

^This just happened to me, Steam won't let me log in using my router :/

I've frequently been pushed into offline mode after a steam update (not a game update, a steam update). I think it was Tuesday night.

I'm behind a cheap ass router, and a minimum dsl pipe. I routinely get pushed into Steam offline mode when I'm chunking the bandwidth with other traffic. As I recall, Gusington is possibly having some bandwidth issues; might be related.

I will take this moment to tangentially whine. I am REALLY irritated that Steam's "improvements" to their download manager now do NOT allow  you download in the background while playing a steam game -- regardless if that steam game is online or not. It used to do this by default, but you could alt task back to steam and tell it unpause the download. Now, that's no longer an option.

So I cannot actually play a steam game to kill the time while another steam game downloads. Stupid.

^That is correct...this newest issue started after a Steam update today.
