This is the beautiful KDE Plasma desktop running on Chakra Linux.  The red lightbulb in the corner is the Redshift plasmoid, which alters my colour temperature to match ambient lighting.

Thanks!  I chose Chakra for two reasons.  First, it's a KDE-focused distro, and KDE is by far my favourite desktop.  Secondly, they have a very sensible release policy: software is packaged Arch-style as soon as it's released and tested, so you get cutting-edge software - but the core system components are kept on a twice-yearly release schedule.  The theory being that non-essential programs can be easily rolled back if a serious bug is found, but your system should never break due to bugs.  They have a good community too.

On a related note, I picked up an Acer Chromebook during a recent sale for just $129 US. The reason I got it is because rumor has it that it's very easy to load up Ubuntu on it. There's even a special distro called Chrobuntu or something like that. I wonder how other distros would run...

Yep; works flawlessly, no messing about or anything.  Just a simple...

pacman -S steam

...and it was installed! 8)

I play Dota 2 on it a lot. ;)

Are you well-versed with Linux?  I'm no expert but I'd say it would depend on the specs and particularly which kind of graphics adapter it has.  I personally hate Ubuntu but it will probably work very well on a Chromebook.  Steam will probably work but what games are you planning to play on it?

My current screen is pretty bland. I've been using my iMac since I moved and put my PC in storage. In fact, my desktop has nothing but a few icons. I did post my PC desktop a while back so lets see if it's still there... yep, it's in my photo bucket library:
