Any chance we could get a modelling forum?

I'm "here to stay" with modelling - albeit a bit slow - but I'm sure there's others who make models (yeah - and I mean "make miniature models" - not modelling like male modelling!)

Typically I've been posting (and looking for) model related stuff in the tabletop wargaming section.

However, there does seem to be some interest in it. Maybe enough to justify its own forum.

Where would you suggest we place it from an organizational perspective?

Thanks LB

What about Tabletop Gaming and rename it Tabletop Gaming and Miniatures and calling the sub forum Modelling and Miniatures?

where else would you play with minis if not on the tabletop?  do we need a "floor gaming" section? ;)

Harpoon played with miniatures typically requires a gymnasium floor for game space :P

Yeah. I have Fear God and Dread Nought. I can easily see it being played in a cul-de-sac.

Gym would be better, if you can get one.

We did a game of Harpoon in a gym once years ago. It was pretty cool. I've also played Fletcher Pratt (WW2 naval) on a large floor space. Fletcher Pratt is cool because you have to estimate the range of your shots. So your plotting salvos out to 77 inches or some such. We used white golf tees for splashes to mark the fall of the shot. You'd base your range adjustments off the 'splashes' while trying to keep in mind where your target would likely be next turn.

Fletcher Pratt could be a lot of fun.  There were guys who hated it because of the range estimation skills needed, but there were others who loved it because it wasn't tied to rolling a gazillion dice.
The problem for one group down in Norfolk, was they had a member who cut drapes for a living.  Believe it ornot, he was incredibly good at range estimation and instead of dropping his rounds in a ladder, like Mirth above, would often call out a range and salvo all the rounds onto it.  He could take down a battleship like no one else.

I have a copy of the Avalon Hill Jutland game. It may not require a gym, but the bigger scenarios could easily take up a living room floor.

I loved the range estimation part of the game, but I would not have wanted to play against the drape cutter. Ouch.

They ran FP at our local con last spring. There was a ballroom floor available for that game. Unfortunately I couldn't play in that one :(

Back in the day I played Jutland on my friends un-finished basement floor... epic stuff....
