QuoteMatrix/Slitherine have a contract with Australian Design Group for all 4 games in the World in Flames series, WiF itself, America in Flames, Patton in Flames and Days of Decision

And I suppose all of them will cost around 100 bucks...nah...I keep on learning and playing Axis Empires: Totaler Krieg/Dai Senso ;)

I was looking at the post on the Matrix forums "7 moments of wow!" (http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3412067) and after looking at that, I'm thinking that learning TK2/DS and/or the "real" WiF, A3R or any other ETO/PTO board wargame combo would be easier than learning how to use that program (that is supposed to make playing WiF easier!).  7 moments of "wow!" indeed.

They'd only get $100 out of me if it had a working, capable AI and PBEM.   Having to play online real time holds no interest for me for this type of game.   I suspect I'm not alone on that.

Forget cost, what is the development schedule for all four? 50 years? :P

Well, it will be a head to head race then between these games and the new Up Front Edition... :P

I'm still mindful of the Matrix Empires in Arms debacle.

....Another major feature that lets a new player ease into learning the game are the 80 optional rules.

after browsing that threat  i thought its more "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin" (you have to painfully progress and finish one to open the next...to become a master)  instead of '7 moments of wow'  ;)

The whole "no AI version" and "someday AI version" discussion makes my brain hurt.

OMG, the AI update, if it ever comes, won't even be a free upgrade?!?!?   That's not a great way to reward the people who buy the initial version just to support them.

Yup. The whole thing sounds like a train wreck.

80 optional rules will help a newbie learn the game? That doesn't even make sense! And now you get to pay for an AI if/when it ever exists. Why wouldn't someone just play WiF over Vassal?

This thing has disaster written all over it in fluorescent paint.

Because this one enforces the rules for you.  No more "if and but" negotiation.

And for how many people is that going to be worth whatever high price tag this game ends up with?

Existing WiF board game players who bought the game for $500 and has no one to play with. :)
