If it makes you feel any better the game was priced around $69 at AB's second link. And I did have to pay shipping so my cost was about $60. Also, I don't know if Chris at NWS actually has the game in stock or if he will be drop-shipping it so theres no way to tell when I'll actually have it.

lol - I'm glad you got it so cheap SW. Things in the UK are ridiculously expensive at the moment - have been for sometime and seem to be getting worse.

Well...I've just received mine - a few things stood out just on opening the box
1. Maps not mounted
I've been spoilt with mounted maps. It wouldn't have been a deal breaker for me as I wanted a good solo BoB game - but it was still a surprise to see no mounted maps.
2. Counters
Not many given the scale of the game...but like I said, this is just looking at it out the box
3. Rules
Look pretty complex!
4. Mistake!
There is a photo in a little document booklet that seems to be a kind of historical info booklet...and it has an image on it with the caption "Air Defences:Spitfires" and the picture is of Defiants! I kind of think that's a bit unforgivable.

In terms of quality of print, not great. I can only base that on games I've purchased from other companies. The info chart sheets just look like rather cheap card. The chits are fine and the player cards look good quality. Also, the maps, though not mounted, do look like decent quality in print and substance.

Plenty of rule books - one for the solitaire RAF player, one for the solitaire Axis player and one for two player. There are also two maps - one for solitaire and one for two player.

All in all, for the price, I'd have expected a bit better. I've certainly had better for a similar and lower price.

Thanks for the mini-review Judge. I'll see how my copy looks and give you my impression as well.

AFA the miss-identified Defiant goes, in the beginning of the War sometimes Luftwaffe pilots would also mistake the Defiants for Spitfires and, especially, Hurricanes. Thus the LW would approach from the rear.

I think it was good they produced 3 different rule books as opposed to one big fat one with sections being split to explain if you are playing RAF Solitaire, Axis Solitaire or Two player.

At least your country actually contains wargames for sale. Slim pickings up here, generally speaking. Sentry Box in Calgary is awesome, but that's a 5 hour round trip (not counting browsing time).

Anyway, hopefully you both enjoy RAF...and let me know how it is, since I've considered picking it up as well.  :D

That actually looks pretty good Judge.  Man I'm hoping to get an email from GMT one of these weeks letting me know one of my P500s has been shipped.  Unfortunately I think the first will be shipped no earlier than December, but most likely some point after the new year.  /sigh/

I bought it on eBay for $52. It's shipping from Canada so was the cheapest option for me. I saw it on sale at NWS for $46. Great deal!
