There seem to be 2 versions for sale which is a bit confusing.

The second seems to be a different game not included in the gold pack.

I enjoyed HOMM3 quite a lot which is also on for $2.49. All the M&M stuff is on sale many for $2.49!

Did this game ever get fixed?  I tried it when it first came and the graphics problems and CTDs were really annoying. 

And did they remedy the problem where an individual player gets special abilities based on Campaign play, but it's all tied to one Ubi website User ID, of which you only get one per game?  Meaning, if I and my wife want to play the Campaign game on a single computer at different times in the week, we'd need to buy two copies of the game or play the same character?

Might & Magic Heroes - VI Shades of Darkness is an expansion to Might & Magic Heroes VI that was released in May of this year. As much as I liked the HoMM series, I think I'll pass on all these until I can pick up a compilation pack that includes all its expansions and DLC, preferably from GOG.com.

Despite its age, my favorite HoMM game is the second one followed closely by HoMM3.

Unless I am blind the gamersgate webpage did not say internet connection is required. I would not have bought it.
I had to login to ubisoft the first time. As far as I can tell it will let me play offline as I choose after I ignore their stupid cannot connect box.

The reviews say there is DRM requiring online play for some features. Be warned.

The graphics are a big jump from HOMM3 or 4. It looks like a copy of Warcraft 3 visually. The music in HOMM 3 was better. A large part of the enjoyment of 3 was the well done atmospheric music. The gameplay seems the same in new wrapping.

Yeah.  As I recall, some of those "features" include most of the significant campaign advantages you get for your "faction" after winning scenarios.  That's all...

The last update is still buggy. It locks up sometimes when you enter your town. The sound of clicks continues as you click buttons. Its over, you are frozen there. Ubisoft is the suck.

Yeah.  What they did to my beloved Heroes franchise pretty much has pushed me on a universal ban of all Ubisoft products until further notice.  Their Quality Control and dedication to gamers just sucks.

It's a startling contrast to a firm like Stardock where, even if you don't like their games, you have to admire their support model.
