For anyone who's been following this 4x title, Iceberg has announced they're "cautiously eying a December 2013 release on Steam's Early Access for the Alpha".  So it's safe to say the game won't be out til well into next year some time.

In the meantime, though, here's a new trailer!

What about the early adopters who pre-ordered during the alpha period? :)

RedArgo

Yeah, what about me?  :)

Looks a lot different than the last version we got from the developer, hope it turns out good.

Or me? This game is the main reason I no longer invest in alphas from unknown developers.

SgtRock

Beware of games released just before the holidays!  :-X

"You'll sing... (ahhhhhhhhhh). Space Lord Mother*******

I left my throne a million miles away
I drink from your tit
I sing your blues every day
Now give me the strength
To split the world in two, yeah
I ate all the rest and now I've gotta eat you

Well I sing

Built in my nightmares and using my name
You're stroking my cortex and you know I'm insane
I'm squeezed out in hump drive and drownin' in love
Encompass them all to a position above

Well I sing...(awwwwwwww).  Space Lord Mother*****er

I lost my soul when I fell to earth
My planets called me to the void of my birth
The time has come for me to kill this game
Now open wide and say my name

Space Lord Mother******"

;)

^  Great tune!  I have it on one of my playlists.  :)

Not a clue; you'd have to ask the devs.  Hopefully you guys will all get a Steam key, but you may want to inquire and find out for sure.

Well it's only for alpha access, not a full-fledged release.  The devs stated some while back the game won't actually come out til next year.

Here is the response from the dev on their site about early purchasers and steam:

You will receive a Early Access key when the game goes live on Steam, which will give you access to the Early Access builds and every future update, including the full version and patches.

I just received my Steam key.  It's probably been close to a year since I looked at this, but allegedly it's much farther along.  We'll see.

I received mine as well.
Funny considering the Devs posted on Steam that they will only be able to email the keys after the weekend :P

RedArgo

Got mine too, looking forward to see how they're doing.

So? Impressions? It looks sort of bland. No new ideas.

100% correct.

I started up a game last night, and remained underwhelmed. The graphics and interface are greatly improved over when I last played a year ago, but in the end, I felt it was a boring, generic, 4X game that brings nothing new to the table. The most interesting thing about the Alpha - the ability to set social policies that define the kind of society you have (sort of like SMAC) - is disabled in this build. It's still part of the interface but grayed-out, so I assume it's being worked on for later.

In fairness, it may just be me. 4X used to be my favorite genre of game, and I've played every one of them that has been released over the last 30 years to death, so I could just be burnt out on the whole idea. i had a similar reaction to Pandora, which a lot of people seem to like.

Perhaps Gal Civ III will re-awaken my love for 4X games. I sure hope so.
