Back at August Steam has started letting people pre-order the game Injustice Gods Among Us for 45$ and the promised release date of 12th of November.

Come November 12, they pushed it back to the 29 for everyone outside the U.S. (And only at 18:00 GMT to boot) So the game is still unreleased for us.

Now, with the spirit of the "sales-idays" they decided to start offering discounts on it.

So us pre-orderers (at least those outside the U.S) got completely shafted.

I paid far more and have to continuously wait for the game while it gets discounted more and more.

I'm really having it with pre-orders.  >:(

I tried asking for a partial refund, but the Steam Support people have so far been so daft it's amazing.

How in the world is this Valve's fault? The dev wants to run a discount, so they do. Put the blame where it belongs, dude.

It's not the Devs, it's Steam that put on the sale.
And they are the one who sold us a product with the promised release date of November 12 and then moved it for everyone but Americans to the 29.
They are the one that took 45$ for the game, and then a moment before release supplying it knocked the price down.
Steam are the ones that took the money, not the devs who just get a cut.

My dealings are with Steam, not the publisher/devs.

If a used car salesman takes your money and then gives you a different broken down car, it's not the car manufacturer's fault, it is the salesman's.

Valve does not decide when a game is put on sale, the developers and publishers do. If they want something marked down for one of the big Steam sales, they request it. Steam is the store. They can't magically mess with prices on games they don't own the rights to. If it's on sale, it's because the dev/publisher wanted it to be on sale.

Who pushed back the release for non-U.S. customers? Who knows. Do you actually know for certain that was a Valve decision and not another choice by the dev?

Yes, they took the $45...because they're a store. That's what stores do.

And no, you have it backwards. The dev/publisher get the money while Valve gets a cut. If it was Steam taking the majority, it never would have gained the popularity that it has.

Tpek

No it was Valve I paid, not the developers. The devs were then given their cut per their contract with Valve, but the payment was to Valve.

And it is Steam that decides release times, not the publishers any longer.
There are games out there (i.e Iron Brigade) that Steam refuses to sell outside a few selected countries despite the devs' wishes to do so.

I do agree that any refund has to come from Valve. I'm not arguing that at all.

As for some games not being on Steam, why should they have to sell everything? It's their store. They aren't obligated to carry every product known to man.

And release dates still come from pubs/devs. Mainly because those who still do business with physical stores (usually if they also have a console version) still need to match up digital and physical release dates. Which is also why Tuesday is still the main game release day, because the stores want it that way.

No matter the details, I think we can all agree that paying full pre-order price and then getting hosed by a lowered release price, before you even receive the goods, is pretty shitty.  :-[

Grim.Reaper

I know there was some issues on release/price, but how did this game actually turn out?  See it for $11 so wondering if worth pulling the trigger.

Tpek

In a nutshell, this is a 2D (with 3D graphics) beat-em-up game.
Like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter of old.

It just has DC characters in it.

Thanks Tpek, would you say you got a lot out of it?  Seems worth the $11 on the surface, but not if something people likely only play for a little bit/  Thanks.

Tpek

It depends on how much you like the genre.
Frankly, I find myself tiring out of these sort of games pretty darn quickly these days.
But if you're still into these beat-em-ups, then this might be good, especially if you like the DC comics universe.

Thanks Tpek...kind of was in the mood for a senseless beat the crap out of everyone game so this might be fit the bill.....one last question, running up against my maximum download allowance for the month, I know the game installs to about 21GB, but do you remember the actual download size, assuming they compress it?

Tpek

I think it might be around 17-18 GB.

Tpek

Steam currently has it for 50% off (25$).
