Sorry I haven't finished this. There's only one turn left but I simply haven't had the time - runup to Christmas and all.

I'm away now until the weekend starting the 28th - so hopefully I will be able to complete it then.

1400 Raid Phase - Raid 1
Raid Force Deployment
Minor Raid - I don't think much is going to help the Germans here!

The target is Southend City in Sector 5 Group 11 and it's a minor raid. I place my bomber Gruppen in the BB (Bomber Box).
I have 1xDo17 bomber Gruppe and 2xMe109 Gruppen this raid.

Consulting the CP box and with 1 bomber Gruppe I don't have to allocate any Me109s to the CP Channel Patrol
My bomber is assigned to the BB Bomber Box
I assign both Me109's to the HB Hunt Box

British Detection
I roll the die and apply modifiers to determine the level of detection of the raid and consult the Detection Track
The modifiers are

  • +2 for each undamaged Radar Network stated on the card (+4)
  • the Observer Corps Value for the weather conditions (Patchy Cloud) (+2)
  • modifier for number of Gruppen in the raid (+1)
For Southend City the modifier is 7 (4 for 2 radar networks, 2 for the Observer Corps in Patchy Cloud and 1 for the number of Gruppen in the attack)
A roll of 3 giving a modified value of 10 which is listed in the Raid Detection chart as Warning - Late and Intelligence - Accurate.

Raid Rendezvous Check
Roll a die and refer to the Raid Rendezvous Check Table.
A roll of 4 is FAILURE IF - 11 or more Gruppen are in the raid and Luftwaffe are not depleted (No failure if Luftwaffe depleted to level 1 or 2 - so the rendevous goes according to plan.

British Raid Response
The Eligible Sectors Chart shows the following valid Sectors and available Sqns (for Late warning)

  • 5/11 - 2 Sqns
  • 6/11 - 2 Sqns
However - I have no Sqns left in those sectors! So there is no interception

Hunter Interception
Here you determine if any Gruppen in HB Hunter Box can intercept Sqns.
As there are no Sqns to intercept, both my Me109's move to the IF (In Flight box)

Raid Approach Event
Squadrons Evade Hunters - but there are no Sqns to move.

Hunter Attack
No hunter attack to be performed

Raid Target Event
Reduce Bomb damage by 1. That will hurt as I only have one bomber anyway!

Squadron Interception
No Sqn interception

Squadron Attack
No Sqn Attack

Bombardment
My bomber Gruppe head towards the target.
My total bombing strength is 4.
Checking the column on the Bombing Table I am on column 4. Due to Patchy Clouds, I have to shift 1 columns to the left. However because my bomber Gruppe was not intercepted, I also move two columns to the right...so in total I move 1 column to the right.
I roll of 4 and looking down my column (5) and along row 4, I see the result is 1 damage points meaning I subtract 1 VP from the VP track.
However - because of the Target Event card, I have to remove 1 from the Bomb Damage Result. So no damage has been inflicted!

German Recovery
My bomber Gruppe in the In Flight box is moved to it's respective airfield, full side up.
All full German fighters are moved from the In Flight box to a clock space 3 spaces on from the current marker (so 0600)

Clock Check
Because I have no more raids planned, I skip through to the Calendar Update Phase

Calendar Update Phase
Because I am playing Prelude to Eagle Day the game is over.

This is the board at the end of the raid day.
It went BAD!

I'm guessing as the Brits have 11VP's then they won.

Alot of the phases were skipped this turn because there were no interceptions.

This is a great game system and the rules are superb. Other board game manufacturers could do with looking at how these rules are laid out. It made the game extremely easy to pick up.

I'm really looking forward to taking this into a short campaign as the Luftwaffe before I give the RAF side an outing.

Thanks for reading and sorry it took so long to finish. I should've made more of an effort to finish it before Christmas.

This is a very well done AAR JD, so much so I even over looked the fact your counters aren't clipped.

Seriously this is front page material.

JudgeDredd

Thank you Bison - that's appreciated.

BUT - my counters ARE clipped. I spent AGES doing them. I didn't cut the corners like some people do, but I did take the "extra" cardboard off the corners.  :D

I'd be ashamed to admit just how few counters I've actually clipped.  It's some where between -1000000000000000 and 0.  8)

I never clip.. but I do remove the little bit of extra fuzz from the corners. I don't like the look of really clipped corners... makes me think they have been mangled....

Nice AAR JD... makes want yet another game...... :P

Excellent.... on my list to purchase.  I picked up The Hunters: German U-Boats at War and I am waiting for that to come in and do a AAR on.

Looking forward to picking this one up as well.... I'm a newbie to board games, but I am now hooked.
