I haven't noticed it checking my CFS3 CD in the tray, when it starts.  Hrmm...

Maybe my drive is just quiet.  But it certainly doesn't seem to take any time starting the game up.  Remember how those disk checks used to take a couple seconds for the drive to spin up?  Not seeing that.

Ohhh.. wait.  I installed CFS3 on my hard drive.  Maybe it doesn't need to check the CDs if that's the case.  ???

Since all the ROF stuff is on sale at Steam for half-off, I almost added another DLC pack to my repertoire.  I realized that I have no intention of flying in ROF for awhile now that I'm stuck in WOFF so why spend the money right now?  :)

I was under the impression at least in the old version the CD was required in the drive if you had the CD version installed.  But maybe with WOFF they changed that, if so that is great.

I actually installed ROF last night and fired it up.  Strangely, tried a mission and shut it down right away....thinking maybe I am a little too much invested into WOFF right now:)

I'll likely support them with these additional purchases at some point, but likely will hold off a bit....if they were a tad bit cheaper, would jump in right away.

I'd like to pick up the skin pack eventually, but don't really need it at the moment.

Would be nice to have as many specific skins for all the game's specific Aces flying about you.  I believe the stock game comes with some of the more notable ones.

I guess the question I'm wrestling with is whether I really need to buy this, or if I can squeeze some more life out of my original OFF with HitR.  I mean, are they really substantially different?  $60 different enough?  Actually like $85 with the skin pack? 

That's a lot of money for essentially the same game...unless it isn't essentially the same game...  :o

I tried running just CFS3 on my system the other day and it demanded the CD, which is packed away somewhere/lost. So...had to get the DVD.

From what I understand, from people who also owned OFF, WOFF is a big improvement in all areas.

They also completely redid the AI and I believe the flight modelling too.  There may be more, I dunno.   It's obviously better than OFF in all ways and not just an update.  The question should be.. are you willing to spend $60 to play it right now, or can it wait for when you can't wait any longer?  :D
