Wings Over Flanders Fields (WOFF) (Dec 2013)

Have any of you checked out some of Hellshade's vids of WOFF?  I think the latest ones are all just big Quick Combat dogfights but it still makes me want to play.

He's pretty good at it, too.


His engine gets hit here, and the damaged engine sound is pretty cool.  I've not experienced that kind of engine hit yet.

INCOMING......already aircraft add-ons coming in January:)  This is great news to keep the game fresh with new content, just hope reasonably priced:)  Don't want to get back into having to buy a ton like ROF (yes, I know it is optional).

Sometime in January we will start releasing the first Addon Pack

First up is the Fokker Scourge and includes:

1) Eindecker EI and skins and associated squadrons for full campaign play.

2) Eindecker EII and skins and associated squadrons for full campaign play.

3) Enables the BE2c Early with rifle in campaign with all associated squadrons for full campaign play.

We are working on others as well.

I don't believe so...but observation balloons are in there, but I know they aren't the same things.

Hmm, I'm surprised that they're not working on something for the Allied side during the Fokker Scourge, like the Morane-Saulnier N, more popularly called the Morane Bullet.

All kidding aside, I really hope they don't go too far down the ROF model where everything becomes a add-on purchase....one of the reasons I bought WOFF was the fact it started out with a large assortment of aircraft already.  I know everything will be optional, but kind of drags me down if I want all the new stuff I will have to invest a fortune into this game and that was a reason I moved away from ROF in the first place:(

Hell.. between the base WOFF game and the Skins add-on pack, I'm already $85 deep into the game.  These WWI flight sims sure take their toll, don't they?  :P  At least WOFF doesn't push you to log into their server.

Fortunately for me, I'm not into the early war stuff like you guys so I can hold out on expansions until I see something interesting later on.  All my essential planes are already in the base game.

I wonder if they'll ever add some Italian aircraft?  I dunno if it would make much sense unless they added a special map covering that front.  That would be like a whole new sim, though.  :o

That's my point exactly...one thing they mentioned along with their fans is that you get so much content that it makes it better than ROF...which is great at the start.  But if it turns into a thousand DLC, then not going to be too much different.  If they want to stay in the game, they have to differentiate themselves from ROF, especially as they continue to keep using outdated stuff like CFS....but don't get me wrong, the in game experience is great and a selling point itself...

I've been increasingly appreciating the new AI they reportedly created for WOFF.

Those crafty enemy pilots know when to get the F out of Victimland.  I've also had some other experiences that were pretty amazing regarding AI behavior, including those of my own squadron mates.

A day or two ago I was cruising along with some other squaddies at about 9 or 10kft and they evidentally spotted something as they all quickly turned around, heading away from our assigned patrol area.  I turned my autopilot off because I spotted a couple aircraft ahead of us and figured, "we outnumber them, where are you guys going!?" so I wanted to check it out.  In short order another huge flock of British planes show up and pounce on me from above.  Our flight would've been outnumbered and at a lower altitude had my AI flight leader continued on.  I should've stuck with them and their better part of valor!  :o  It would've saved my air biscuit.

I've had enemy aces tail me all the way back to my aerodrome and I've had rookie pilots take their first opportunity to dive towards the deck and boogie out of there quick after I took a couple shots at them.  It's cool that they're not just homicidal maniacs tirelessly dogfighting you.

There is no doubt the AI is the star of this game....I will take a smart AI over graphics any day of the week...

For me it will clearly lead to more variety in the way I get shot down...until and if I get the hang of things. No matter what, after training I am hoping to start a German campaign.
