It reminds me a bit of a Finnish film I once saw on YouTube. I think it was called 'The Ambush'

bob48 got it! It's the Finnish movie "Rukajärven tie", English title "The Ambush" or "Ambush 1941" about a team of Finnish recon soldiers beyond the Russian border in Karelia in 1941!

It had just occurred to be that I was both incomplete with the film title and even if it had been changed for the US release to match the US version of the cartoon.

It's a great flick, though I would have preferred the ending be a little more ambiguous. The very last scene felt tacked on, as if viewers needed things spoon fed to them.

Yeah, it really surprised me; I didn't expect the twist it had, but the ending left a lot to be desired. Not bad overall though.

I guess this time I'll go ahead and go with the one I posted above...
