^I have really slow dsl. I mean, there are women faster than my download speed. Contestants at a pie eating contest would die -- happy mind you -- but die if they held one simultaneous with one of my downloads. Gwyneth Paltrow Consciously Couples and Uncouples faster than my download can say Pretentious Bitch. The ACA will actually close enrollment before I finish downloading Rome II. Noah, Noah II: Electric Boogaloo, and Noah III: We're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat will we produced, screened worldwide, and released to video sooner than I can download an ARMA scenario.  Prince George will be gazing fondly at girls with big brown eyes instead of puppies by the time Skyrim's Even More Naked Stuff VXIVVIII mod downloads. . .

Seriously though, I have really never had a download speed with Steam, seemed to be fairly good for me.  Of course I don't buy Steam games everyday, so it certainly could be slow at times.  Worst case scenario for me, I start the download before I go to bed and wake up with a new game:)

To me the deciding factor will be who has it when I wake up for my 4AM gaming sessions tomorrow - if I have to wait 6 hours for it to unlock on Steam, GOG wins.

More I watch the videos the more it looks good....now I will start the big debate....where did you all pick up from, Steam or GOG?  Leaning towards Steam myself since I am guessing it will usually get the updates of content/DLC faster....thoughts?

I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition of Age of Wonders III from GOG.com. The standard version is $5 cheaper, but I wanted to show my support for a website that deals exclusively in DRM-Free games.

If I were a Steam fan, I would have purchased the Steam version due to Steam's automatic patching.

I am really on the fence...Steam is a much more known system for me, I know what I will get and how quick things come.  Just not sure of GOG support, meaning how fast they get patches and such.  That likely is the way I am going to go, gotta make a decision soon:)  My next big decision, standard or deluxe:)

Steam and GOG both have:
The same content (i.e. no Steam or GOG-specific DLC)
Regional pricing
The same price

Steam offers:
Auto-patching
Access to Steam Overlay while playing
Steam goodies – Achievements and Steam Trading Cards

GOG offers:
No DRM
Free game for people who pay extra due to regional pricing. Selection from: Master of Magic, Lords of Magic, Eador: Genesis, King's Bounty (the 2008 remake, not the original), Disciples 2, Etherlords 2

Things we're 100% not sure of yet:
As online play will be through Triumph's own servers, it seems very likely that there will be no difference between Steam and GOG when it comes to multiplayer functionality. AFAIK this is not known for sure yet though. I'm guessing that Steam will still allow you to invite Steam friends.

It is possible that players will be able to post custom mods and maps on Steam Workshop. It is worth noting that this content would still be available from outside sources as well – meaning that while it's more convenient for Steam players, they wouldn't actually get any bonus content.

The GOG version could possibly still be able to use the Steam overlay if run via Steam as a non-Steam game. This works for some games, but not others, so there's no way to say for sure. I would bank on it not happening, but who knows.

Usually in these cases I go with GOG. But the convenience of Steam auto-patching and the fact I've had zero problems with Steam in the years I've used it, I decided to buy through Steam. Yes, I have been assimilated. :)

I really want it, but my funds -of lack thereof- keep me from jumping in right now. Holiday needs to be paid for if we want to go next month, so I will be reading you guys' reports like a rabid dog chewing on my keyboard in anticipation for when I do get to order myself!

Pre-orders end at 10:00 PST so I'm guessing that's when it hits.
However, it's not pre-loading which might mean STEAM bandwidth mayhem at 10:00 PST.

I ended up pre-ordering from GOG, but it appears the rumor mill was wrong - the game didn't unlock at 7AM PST.  It will probably be a simultaneous release.

The devs had stated that they were all going live at the same time.. around 2PM Eastern.  The usual time when Steam releases new stuff every day. 

GOG had theirs up, and a d/l link listed an hour before that, but it was dead until that time.  I guess there were exact release time stipulations since some of the vendors didn't wanna get pre-empted.

D/L'd a copy from GOG a bit ago.. getting ready to play after getting some things done.
