Age of Wonders III coming later this year!

Despite running my vid card a bit hot even with Vsync on, I'm digging the depth.  Glad they kept all the detail from the series and didn't try to break something that wasn't really broken.

Only played for a few minutes but it's enough to know it's high quality stuff and there has been a lot of polish.  Minus perhaps some video performance/compatibility optimization.



Unfortunately, Gus and his black plague gave me the evil eye.  Been getting increasingly ill today, the lymph nodes in my neck are about to 'splode along with my sinuses.  Gettin a damn cold or something.  What shitty timing.

played for 10 mins just so i could post some shots in screenshot thread - its great, loving the classes and the way they effect the spells you get, and a biggie for me was the production if units - if you build a dwarf axeman unit - you actually get about 10 in the unit so from the get go it looks like a little warband - i could never get over your army of 7 people rushing a fortress in the old game - this time round army, not gang - hooray

Seems to be some complaining about the game hitting video cards hard or running slow on higher end machines. Anyone here playing it have problems? Lots of those that do seem to have the kind of rig that necessitates you put it in your sig so everyone knows how cool you are

I played enough of the first chapter of the Elf campaign (tutorial) to confirm this is indeed Age of Wonders with a modern veneer - which is a good thing.  Battles are a lot more tactical than I remember (was there flanking in the previous game?), and there are tons of tool tips and hotlinks to appropriate articles in the Ageofwondersopedia.  Tomorrow I plan to play around with character creation, get my Draconian Sorcerer on, and fire up a random map.

As to performance, I've had no issues with everything set to High.  I'll try Ultra later to see how it goes.  I'm running a 3.4GHz I3 with 8Gb RAM and a GTX Geforce 650-TI superclocked under Win 8.

That's no kidding.  Been having to bend noticeably further every year.  If that trend continues, there will be some tea being dumped.

I had to scrape to get AOW3 but it looks to be worth it from what little I've played thus far.

It runs a tad hot on the desktop I built late last year.  The performance seems to be fine, but I was a bit surprised at how much it was obviously struggling to do so, when the fans were ramping up just on the 'High' gfx setting. 

I'll probably just chalk it up to the Nvidia GTX7** series drivers likely still needing some refinement before they play well with most everything.  In my experience, it takes almost two years of driver updates before a new video card series hits it's peak efficiency.
