I'll get it day 1, but like the Sword of Islam and Byzantine DLC's, I'll probably never play it

I'm seeing regular mentions of glaring bugs in the latest version with the expanded map, and the Rajas DLC.

After having just started getting the ball rolling on my last campaign, and then having to abandon it due to the update, I'm not sure I want to start a new one just yet until it's viable.  I've played CK2 since closed beta, and had to start new campaigns pretty much every update during that time.  I'd rather wait if there will be some extensive patches yet to come.

Anyone put a lot of time into CK2 since this last big update?  Experience any glaring issues?

ive put time in both sides of the update - but your old games are not lost - just roll the betaback in steam and your old saved games are active again

PanzersEast linked me the last episode of Arubas Rajas LP last night. His recommendation is to skip it and not play as a Hindu ruler. As far as I can tell that is the only thing specific to the Rajas DLC itself, everything else is part of the free patch. I'm going to wait for a sale. As PE mentioned to me last night, more and more of the content in the DLC's is part of the free patch, unlike the early DLC's where only a few features where that way.

@Nefaro, I've continued a few games with new DLC's added in. Didn't seam to cause any issues for me.

Most of the bugs are related to actually playing India. If your not playing India, I think you will be fine.

With older systems you may be in trouble even if you don't play India.  The larger map put a major memory crunch on older systems (too many moving trees), and the patch that came out at the same time as RoI delivered that map to everyone else as well. Those of us with more antiquated systems were only able to play the game by rolling the patch back to an earlier version.

A beta patch came out a few days ago that lessens the impact of the expansion but does not cure it.  If you configure your game before you play so that the only things that are turned on are those which will effect your game, you should be fine.  That can be a pain, however, because it is not always obvious what you shouldn't turn off.  If you're going to play a dynasty from Sri Lanka, you only need music for India and you can turn the other music off.  You can also turn off the Celtic figures and portraits, because you'll never come in contact with anyone that far to the west.  You probably won't need the Norse either.  But leave your African figures and portraits on because East Africa sits next to the Indian Ocean.  Where it gets tricky is when you find that each national group seems to need a slightly different configuration, and everything you turn off frees up a bit more memory.  Do you really need to have the EU4 converter turned on if you're going to be playing in the 9th and 10th century?

The development team is still working on the patch, and at least one member of the team thinks that there are a few more tweaks that will make the configuration shenanigans that I just described unnecessary.  I hope he is right, because I don't plan on upgrading my system any time soon, and I would love to take the slothful approach and always play with everything turned on.  It is not clear, however, that these tweaks are going to be ready in time for the next official patch. So the worst case scenario is that it won't and you'll have to spend a minute remembering what you'll need to turn on or off before you play for another six months or so, by which time there will be another expansion and another pair of patches.

As for the other bugs, there always seem to be a lot of them when an expansion first comes out, and this one has so much new material going on in it that I'm sure India will feel buggy compared to Central Europe for a couple of patches more at least.    Frankly I've been too busy just figuring out if I could get the thing to run on my antiquated system to do any significant playing or bug-spotting.  But as long as someone has more than 2 gigs of memory and a reasonably modern machine, he shouldn't have any inordinate  problems running the game.
