Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star ON STEAM!

My feeble mind still struggles with this thread....does the Steam version fully patch itself without having to go through that convoluted process that has been thoroughly discussed and explained in other threads? And, are the dlc's available through Steam as well?

Yeah, I didn't think it was possible for this game to become mechanically more difficult to get up and running... Yet here we are with an added element of confusion.

No one's forcing you to buy.

I'm not affiliated with the game and only use this forum to pass on any info posted in other forums.
I try to help anyone having problems updating,but if your not happy and can't be bothered with the current way then you're barking up the wrong tree.

If you have a problem in the future take it up with Graviteam.

So he will be updating GT on Steam??   I thought it was just an old version from the publisher hosted there, not being updated.   ???


As for purchasing an extra copy of GT on Steam, for convenience purposes, I can absolutely see the reasoning behind it.  I would possibly do so myself, if it were priced decently.  I'd call that a win-win situation for everyone involved since the developer gets extra voluntary money from customers who already own it and the customers get a copy that cuts out the update process, and some achievements, at a good price. 

I think it would be good for everyone involved.  No need to get angry and argue about it.  More purchasing options is always better.  ;)

Ok enough. Both of you move on. Dolan, you clearly have a passion for Graviteam tactics. I know how you feel. I love it too.  However, It won't be everyone's cup of tea, and some May like it, but not as fervently as you or I. It's a truth that many people dislike and have problems with the patching system. While you are free to defend the game and system, I do think you get overly defensive.

Please try to be more tolerant of feedback that differs from your own where this particular game is concerned. It's hard, but we're all good people here, no need for blue on blue.

Did they ever patch in the ability to save mid-battle? That was the one thing that always held me back from getting this.

By patch the save, do you mean the ability to have multiple saves (i.e. at different stages of the battle)?  If so, Andrey  is adamant that GTOS won't feature that.  I find it completely absurd for reasons I've written about elsewhere.  The terrible save-game functionality of GTOS is even worse than the patching process, IMO -- a serious blemish on an otherwise superb game.

No, my understanding has always been that you could never save during a battle at all, even though it may take an hour or more.

Actually you can save during a battle, but next time you start the game, you MUST load the save file to continue the battle. If you start another operation without loading the save file, you will lose the save file for good. So really only one save file at a time.

That's what I think happens.

Operation Star is good but not so unique and its competitor Combat Mission Red Thunder is behind the horizon (4 weeks)

I would merely observe that whilst the CM, and APOS series might appear very similar, they both have some unique strengths that make them very different gameplay experiences - both in a good way, I would add! :D If you like the period, and can afford it, buy both. I find the user interface for CM much easier, and the graphics less demanding on my computer (CM seems to support larger actions better in comparison due to the graphics issues that can occur with larger forces in APOS) -I've had my German infantry in APOS "skating" as they ran due to poor FPS - but with a lot of tweaking it later wasn't so much an issue. On the APOS plus side the way the "campaign" element works is a really great feature, and I wouldn't be unhappy if at some stage Battlefront did something like Graviteam have in that regard. 8)

1) The algorithm for squad placement for AI in ambush mode was changed.
2) Added restriction on the minimum distance for the crews leaving vehicles.
3) The level of command is not reduced if all units can't execute the order.
4) Adjusted ammunition layout for T-34 and OT-34 tanks.
5) Fixed a bug with the display for accum damage in statistics.
6) STEAM support.

I know it's April but the patches are named for the month that they were first worked on not released.
No word yet as to when the March patch will be released.

I'm going to say yes, but I really don't know since I don't have the game on Steam.
