I have a Track IR 4 with the Track Clip Pro. The Track Clip Pro seems to have had a run of bad craftsmanship because the clips that hold on the LED's are snapping. I didn't know it was an issue until mine snapped and I looked online to find others had done the same.

I emailed NaturalPoint asking for a discount on a new Track Clip Pro. They asked for a photo and upon receipt they promptly said they would ship me a new Track Clip Pro free of charge!

I wanted to share my experience with you guys. These guys are A+ in my book.

Mine snapped too, but I super glued it back together. I guess I should beak it again and take a picture.

Mine never snapped but I started just using the reflectors when I got my mitts on a one of those visor-only hats. It may look like I'm a woman out golfing but there are less wires to worry about (and wearing headphones often tends to bother me).

My TrackIR 4 just up and died about 10 months after I bought it. I wrote the company to see if there was anything I could do but they basically said "He's dead Jim!" and proceeded to try to sell me a TrackIR 5 instead. (which I bought because I'm lame.)

I've noticed that the TIR5 monitoring device gets pretty damn hot when it's been running for a bit. Mine hasn't died in the year-and-a-half I've had it but that does make me worry sometimes. These things aren't cheap.

I'm pretty sure mine got fried from a voltage spike when I got a BSOD, a screeching noise from my speakers, and then hard reboot all in the space of about 3 seconds.

Ouch! :o

I vividly remember this happening to one of my machines about six or seven years ago after updating my Logitech usb mouse drivers. Even saw smoke coming out of the back USB ports and light reflecting off the wall. I would've sworn the board would be blown but it started right back up. Hopefully MSI has kept building them that sturdy.

Do you notice a difference between the TrackIR 4 and the 5? I went with the 4 because I'm cheap, but I've wondered ever since if I'd have noticed the benefits of the 5.

The biggest difference between 4 & 5 is the wider FOV of the IR monitor, IIRC.

Does TIR4 have head tilt too? I haven't really needed it thus far but wasn't sure if that was included with 4.

Yes the 4 supports head tilt too.
The 5 not only has a wider FOV, it has a higher scanrate / sensitivity too. I also still use my original TIR4 so I have no idea if this improves handling either. :)
