F117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighter 2.0 on GOG

I just landed, damaged, on an aircraft carrier, with realistic landings. There is NO room for error, and my palms were sweaty when I was done. I have 19 missions invested in this pilot, and I didn't want to lose him. This is a GREAT game.

That's exactly why I loved this game and why I'm going to skip the burger and head over to GOG.com.  :P

I generally don't get shot at, or even detected. But, there are times when you HAVE to open your bomb bay. I was doing the photo thing at a bridge near Berlin, with a MIG about 15 kilometers behind me.

Despite the fast open-click-click-click-close of the camera, he pulsed JUST at the wrong time. I had no time at all to avoid the missile he fired. I was too low really, to do much. Couldn't climb, as everyone for miles around was already heading my way.

Still, I got my Distinguished Flying Cross for this one. After a refresher of about 20 missions, I am at veteran opponents, and realistic landings. This game is absolutely as good as I remembered it, more than 20 years ago. How many games can I say this about? Not many. Railroad Tycoon 2, Master of Magic, Darklands, and now this. All four are Microprose games.

You know you're going to make me buy another game I don't have time to play, right? But damn those screenshots remind me of some good times with F19. This AAR at SimHQ isn't helping me either.

I had both F-19 and F-117. Actually, still have them. If I could figure some way to reinstall from my 3.5 inch floppies, I'd do it in a heartbeat...

I loved these games back in the day - and it's true they had something that games just do not have now...but I simply couldn't go back to games that looked like that. Heck - I had a hard time getting back into Microprose Gunship! which was a great looking game

If I could go back to a fantastic game that looked so bad, it would be Gunship 2000

But I'm having trouble downloading my games. They don't appear in the Downloader and the manual download results in an error.

I loved these games back in the day - and it's true they had something that games just do not have now...but I simply couldn't go back to games that looked like that. Heck - I had a hard time getting back into Microprose Gunship! which was a great looking game

If I could go back to a fantastic game that looked so bad, it would be Gunship 2000

I don't know why but the graphics don't really bother me. Sure it would be nice if it looked better but for me the great game play more than makes up for it.

I saw they had the Wing Commander games on there - they were some of my favourites...but I still don't think I could go back.

I'd like to see Strike Commander remade. I liked the idea of being a mercenary and having to juggle missions with money.

Sorry I meant to say M1 Tank Platoon 2.  1 was ok but 2 was well refined.  I still have the CD but it just doesn't work right in modern computers (graphical anomalies).  Maybe that's why GOG still doesn't sell it because it still doesn't work right even with DOSBOX (you don't actually need it).

Hi, i mentioned this in another thread but it may be missed as that thread was referring to vmware. Well that isnt necessary now as m1tp2 can play in glorious glide graphics.and doesnt crash to desktop after completing a mission. How? Well the good man behind zeussoftware's nglide wrapper has made an experimental patch for both te 1.1 and 1.2 versions and they do seem to work well - these can found in the forum thread at the nglide site that i made in the problems section. i will attach it here soon though too.

I am not sure if anyone else is excited about this, but i am keen to play this a bit more between all the other sims i am resurrecting in my scant free time. No doubt this will be lost again with windows 8

I'd consider it if I had a better idea of what "GOG" is.

And having just gone to the website, I have to be honest - the site doesn't provide much clarity.

Which did not fill me with confidence.

I'll pass on sending them money, for now. Incidentally, the MicroProse brand is still active, so I'm not sure what the status of the titles are. Ownership may have passed back to the original creators - I believe this happened with Sid Meier - but I thought Hasbro had been involved at some point as well.
