You know you're going to make me buy another game I don't have time to play, right? But damn those screenshots remind me of some good times with F19. This AAR at SimHQ isn't helping me either.

I had both F-19 and F-117. Actually, still have them. If I could figure some way to reinstall from my 3.5 inch floppies, I'd do it in a heartbeat...

Or you could just pony up the doe and get back in the game.

I'd consider it if I had a better idea of what "GOG" is.

And having just gone to the website, I have to be honest - the site doesn't provide much clarity.

I'll pass on sending them money, for now. Incidentally, the MicroProse brand is still active, so I'm not sure what the status of the titles are. Ownership may have passed back to the original creators - I believe this happened with Sid Meier - but I thought Hasbro had been involved at some point as well.

well you would see that if you deliberately went past the game section, the community section and went straight to the 'thanks' page

or you could just look at the games library and use some common sense - something youre not unfamiliar with

I can assume from the insults that those who have responded don't wish to give clear answers. I would appreciate some insights rather than just tirades, as yes, I clearly don't get it.

Is the site truly above board (i.e. operating with the consent of the rights owners?)  I would expect some kind of explanation somewhere if that was the case. If not, I don't see the difference between this, and a bit torrent site.

The same kind of conversations go on at BGG re: out of print magazines and board games.

Yes, it is absolutely legit.

The titles they sell are also DRM-free.  You get an easy installer package.. that you just install.  No activations, logins, or other nonsense.

I've had an occasional issue with some of the older stuff but I think most of those have been limited to Great Battles of Alexander in the Great Battles Collection there.  Alexander crashes on me somewhat regularly although I've played quite a bit of GB Of Hannibal without issue.

There was one other which didn't like the Logitech mouse program running in the background, but closing it down solved the problem. 

I have around 20 or 30 games from GOG, which I've frequented for years.  Been quite happy with them.

Once I found that what you had quoted was in fact from that site, I corrected myself - but I just didn't understand what made you think it wasn't legit?

And I have never been to a bit torrent site - but I would suspect they don't sell games from what I understand of them.

That will give you numerous flyable helos in an old game, with a bunch of different dynamic campaign locations to choose from too.  It's old enough to feel a bit retro but is still passable as a modern game.  I think the somewhat blocky terrain is it's biggest problem but they upgraded much in the game and are still working on modding it.  The source code was released years ago so there's been a lot done on it.

I could never get the hang of helicopter sims. I don't think there's a universe where I'm a helicopter pilot.  :P
