Can anyone recommend some novels? One thing is if it's part of a series they all have to be available at a decent price.

The only book I've read so far and rally enjoyed it was the first Space Wolf omnibus.

Also what are the WH fantasy books like?

Gusington

The only title you need is the Eisenhorn omnibus. Others here will corroborate.

That reminds me:  I really need to get on that one (after I finish my epic journey through the Wheel of Time series, that is)!

This and the Inquisition Wars are required reading.

I'll third the Eisenhorn omnibus.

I'd actually hold off on the Horus Heresy until you've read more of the 'current' material. For me, it makes the Heresy stuff a lot more interesting once you have snippets of information from other books.

Staggerwing

The Ravenor Omnibus is also highly recommended.

BTW, has anyone read Pariah: Ravenor vs Eisenhorn yet?

Amazon just recommended that for me this morning.

A shame some of the omnibus books are so expensive as they are out of print.

Still just finished the first Horus heresy book and now at the point Horus has gone under the Chaos spell at Davin in the second book. I read the first book in juts over a day!!

It seems pre heresy the Imperium wasn't as bad a place as it is in the 40K books. Seems it plunged everything into paranoia. What does strike me as odd is that in the post Heresy books the Imperium is so bad it's as is Chaos has won already going by the way they behave.

Also anyone tell me if the Interex are ever contacted again?

As noted in the general reading thread, my Dad is looking to start a new science-fiction epic series, so again any recommendations of where he might start with WH40K to see if he likes it? (He likes fantasy, too, so the mix seems possibly good.)

Kindle, or not large books physically, will be necessary.
ICEBREAKER THESIS CHRONOLOGY! -- Victor Suvorov's Stalin Grand Strategy theory, in lots and lots of chronological order...
Dawn of Armageddon -- narrative AAR for Dawn of War: Soulstorm: Ultimate Apocalypse
Survive Harder! -- Two season narrative AAR, an Amazon Blood Bowl career.
PanzOrc Corpz Generals -- Fantasy Wars narrative AAR, half a combined campaign.
Khazâd du-bekâr! -- narrative dwarf AAR for LotR BfME2 RotWK campaign.
RobO Q Campaign Generator -- archived classic CMBB/CMAK tool!

Keep that in mind when you get further into the Heresy series and read Legion...

Will do Artic:)

Jarhead, honestly the first two Horus Heresy books have been superb, couldn't put them down. Highly recommend it. Also for fantasy I still say Raymond E Feists Riftwar saga Trilogy are the next best fantasy books after LOTR.
