Why Germany Refuses to Play a Bigger Role in NATO

Why Germany displays such misplaced sympathy for Russia, despite Kremlin misconduct in Crimea and eastern Ukraine, is a complex issue that is rooted deeply in German history, and cannot be divorced from the broader tendency to anti-Americanism that has become vocal in recent years.

It is a shocking fact that the European Union's economic and political powerhouse matters so little in defense. While the Bundeswehr is the fourth-largest military in the EU, with about 180,000 active duty personnel, that is smaller than the militaries of France, Italy, and Britain, all of which Germany dwarfs in both economy and population.

The two-decade decline of the Bundeswehr as a serious fighting force is remarkable and alarming. At the Cold War's end, little more than twenty years ago, the German Army's active strength included twelve divisions with thirty-six maneuver brigades... In the whole army there are only four battalions each of tanks and field artillery. This is not a force the Russians need to lose sleep over.

When German soldiers serving in Afghanistan performed deeds deserving a valor decoration, there was embarrassment in Berlin, as the Bundeswehr had none. Suggestions that the famous Iron Cross be resurrected were met with howls of indignation from a coalition of anti-militarists, leftists, and Jewish groups, notwithstanding the fact that the iconic medal was created not by Adolf Hitler, rather by Prussian patriots in 1813 during the war of liberation against Napoleon.

blame it to the rise of the Green party in the 80ies, starting out with leftovers from 68 student revoltions and Vietnam protesters. Adding the Stasi steered communist agents, who masked as peace-movement and antinuclear-power-protesters, able to gathered a lots of ordinary people in that movements to hurt the BRD in cold war times as best as they could.

in their 30 years of existence they were able to shape the society through their so called "march through the institution" (getting into positions as teachers, and the media ...able to influence education and public opinion with their mission statements and ideas including the pest of Political Correctness, and Multiculturalism gone wrong, which instead of artist, chefs, authors and musicians, brought us a flood of uneducated Turkish Muslims living in Parallelsociety and milllions of so called 'refugees', 'asylum seekers' who just want to grab the incredible royal social-care payments for non-citizens)

so nowadays about 50 - 70 percent is lefty-greenish leaning in Germany. Even so we have at mild conservative government bound in the compromise of a big coalition between SPD and CDU/CSU party . Its not outstanding chancellors Schmidt's or Kohl's Germany anymore (which is very sad :-\)

Also recently it doesn't helped public opinion all to much that our 'best friend America': is spying with NSA non-discriminatory on all our citizens (and business!) instead on the terrorist, but also on our government including chancellor Merkels phone 
...and were even stupid enuf to let them self get caught doing that.
(espionage insiders know that everybody is spying on everybody as best as they can ...or dare, but the average Joe did not - and now is extremely pissed)

Also it got very obvious that the USA, well is only looking for their best own (financial) interests,of course! .. and not "for the wellfare or benefit" of other countries or Europe as a whole as they may claim.
(TTIP is a good example: its all about some american companies wanting to sell us the same crapy food here, what they get away with in the US for unknow reasons -just to make some shareholder and hedgefond mangers even more happier while they private cruise around the Bahamas ..while i have to then legalised chew on some genetically manipulated chemical infested meat which get not even declared on the wrapping to avoid it)

so what do they want with the Ukraine, why is a son of Biden getting installed in the board of directors in Ukrainian  gas companies Burisma, and such news a dime a dozen...?

In the end its all about the money, so fight and pay for your own wars to get your rich people richer who 'pull the strings of their sockpuppet' Obama (or any other ruling POTUS )  ;)
   
If the Russian realy invade i stop them with Fausts and IEDs in my woods like my anchestors did to Varus in AD 9

Dont forget that the German army has undergone a transformation from an all out conscript army to at modern dqay professionel army. So even with its 180000 serving men + the 250000 reservist it would still kick Russias ass any day of the week. Not only are the troops better trained, the equipment is light years ahead.
