The Last Ship

I'm just watching the first episode online now. Adam Baldwin was easily the actor I was most excited to hear about being in this, but thus far the script has made him pretty two-dimensional. He couldn't even act stunned convincingly enough to tell the Captain his boy was dead. Then, pretty much everything mirth says. Then I have to remind myself by quoting Star (dude, it's Michael Bay).

I was not interested in seeing this when I saw it wasn't the same as the book...the nuke they threw in there just now was pretty ham-fisted, an obvious allusion to the book's nuclear war but dammit, I'm just not feeling it.

So far I am disappointed. I hope this gets better.

I've only seen the first two episodes - haven't seen the third one yet, I guess it came on last night but I wasn't home to catch it.

There's SO much in this series to not like. I might watch one more and see if it gets better, but if not, I'm punching out.

I don't know, although I continue to catch glimpses of it, still hard to really get into. Spoiler for those that didn't see it yet, but in this episode they load up boats with their top men (including the captain and next in command) and the only person that can save the world, going into a country they have no clue about, without radio contact.

I think this leadership team has to learn to delegate this duty better:)

I know just a tv show and the main cast is who people want to see, but makes it hard to watch.

Actually, that was one of the things that the writers of ST.TNG set out to change, after having seen Kirk beam down with every landing party. Also, IIRC, Janeway mostly stayed aboard Voyager unless there was something really extreme going on, such as aliens seizing her ship. Still, those shows did send down the First Officer quite a bit which is still risky to the health of a ship's command structure.

I should have clarified that as ST: TOS.

The only good that came of bridge crew beaming down in ST: TNG was Yar biting the big one.

I always had a thing for Marina Sirtis - even met her in person at a ST convention back in 1990 or so.

And Gates McFadden was a MILF...Yar was down there on my scale of perceived hotness, but I won't disparage you your choice, sir. There's worse, of course, out there.

Yeah Gates is a hottie as well. Marina became the hotter as the series went on.
