tonights episode is a LOT better.  I cant put my finger on it exactly but this might be were the series gels together.
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

GDS_Starfury

in fact, Id go as far as saying that this is the episode that shows like Terra Nova and Defiance never had.
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

I refuse to be tricked into returning to this show.

I'm a bit skeptical myself...

if you based your opinion of all of Babylon5 on the first few episodes how wrong would you have been?
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Perhaps. I'm still stuck on episode 5 or 6 of B5 while I get through four seasons of Game of Thrones. I won't be sidetracked again, which is just as well as it will give the streaming site I use to watch it all a chance to build up a history.

I might give it a chance again, but if one of Bay's characters has one more quote from a Cameron movie...

Haven't seen the most recent ep; but I've liked the series so far, when I can resist picking at the ignorance, laziness and outright plot cheating. The writers know what the Prairie/Masker system is (or at least that's the implication) but think tin foil hidden behind a ship will prevent a radar from noticing two blips, one stationary and the other moving toward the "canal" channel? (Is "canal" how people in Cuba pronounce "channel"??)

Sometimes a spare line of dialogue or so would account for weirdities. Why no helo or at least drone support for the boats going upriver? Because av-gas is rare now.

Still, there are so many times the world would have been doomed except for plot cheating.  :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: OMG we can't have the virus warming up beyond 42 degrees so we'll dip it several thousand feet down while we're stationary in warm Caribbean water, hurry hurry get it down there, yay it works by one degree...! Annnd we'll just teleport it back to the surface to keep all the dangerously warm water between us and it from ruining the samples by raising the temp a few more degrees during ascent...

Despite all that (and with Dad an ex-Navy guy picking at it, too), Dad and I like it. Its heart seems to be in the right place and we like the general tone.

Also, for all its (many, many, many) foibles, it's a legitimately science-fiction story (with some legitimate military-science so to speak sprinkled in). There's a clear scientific process at work with steps to be achieved and some innovation along the way. Not much of that in movies or TV.

I dunno. I think it's the TV equivalent of Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor.

What what whaaaat? Uh...do they not have refrigerated/freezer spaces on that billion-dollar 'Last Ship?'

No...don't answer that. This is like a train wreck. I want to look away so so so much, but...

I liked the early episodes of B5 and I preferred Michael O'Hare as commander over Boxleitner or Scoggins.

Besides, the TV landscape is greatly changed from when B5 first aired. There are so many top notch series now, that I just don't have time to put into something that is mediocre.

Consider this, if Star Trek TNG were first airing today would it make it past that first dreadful season?

engine fire shuts down pretty much all main electric which is plausible if you follow the show.

That's one of the more plausible parts of the show then.

The last episode got the ship acting like a god damn Navy ship and is one of those nice details.

Except that the Burkes have gas turbine engines burning some variation of avgas. I'm willing to bet that a Seahawk could burn the ship's fuel and it's entirely possible that they use the exact same fuel already. I believe the Seahawk uses JP-5, not sure what a Burke uses without some Googling.

Not the people behind the show would put that much thought into any of it :P
