Hey Guys,
I haven't posted here for awhile, but I thought I'd call your attention to this. More than a week ago over at SimHQ 33lima posted info on a new forum and new mods for the tanksim Steel Fury 1942.

Like many of you here I've used the old mods like NTA. Now, lockie who along with a few others has set up a new website and upgraded and improved the mods along with adding more missions. And there will be more to come. The whole process is streamlined and more user friendly than in the past. The new mod is now named STA1.0 for Steel Tank Addon. There are three missions packs (GMP) available with over 150 missions as well as many weather mods.

I've worked with lockie over the last couple days and we've managed to fix a couple problems with running SF (old 32-bit program) on newer OS like my Win7 64-bit. Vanilla SF will run just fine. However depending on your system you may experience problems with using all of the mods.

The new forum is here with all the download links:

http://stasf2008.ephpbb.com

Some caveats: You will need to register on the forum. Otherwise, when you go to the 4share site to DL you will get so many pop-ups you may not even be able to DL at all.

The 1st Mission pack may not be available yet as lockie is adding more missions. I say may not because for some odd reason I the link for GMP1 was active on my laptop but not active on my desktop gaming rig. Go figure.

On the forum you will find some fixes that lockie and I have posted for any problems you might have.

The mods and order of install  in JSGME are as follows:

1) Steel Sound Mod (optional, see caveat below)
2) Any and all GMPs
3) STA 1.0
4) any and all weather mods (optional)

On the Steel Sound Mod: On my Win7 64-bit OS I'm using 8GB RAM. I can run most of the mission packs using the sound mod. However, there are several that will not run with the Sound Mod activated. If you run into this problem disable the Sound Mod. Of course if you have more RAM you may be OK. It seems that 32-bit SF seems to hog memory on my 64-bit system for some reason. Your mileage may vary.

If you want to use the Sound Mod for SF: In the FAQ on the forum we've posted a fix using the 4GB patch that is available for download.

Enjoy and happy hunting!

Hey JH,
We haven't talked for awhile. Not since the old days on Wargamer. Are you still enjoying life in Texas?

No. I'm miserable in NY. Hope all is well.

Thanks for posting it....almost forgot about this game....have it, just never played it much...maybe time to dust it off again.

trek

yeah grim,
I just got back into it after a two-year hiatus. I think you will find it more enjoyable with the STA Mods. The desert missions are very good. DL the winter mod as well as well as the Africa mod.  And try the winter one  on the Otto Carius Tiger mission. It really adds to the atmosphere. lockie is currently working on a Sherman M4A2 mission for North Africa too.

Another modder is working on new terrain, buildings, etc. So, lots of more content is in the pipeline.

Rayfer

Good news. Thanks. I enjoyed this game awhile back but found it way too difficult to mod. This might be the answer.

trek

Rayfer,
Just make sure you install the JSGME installer. Post if you need any help either here or on the STA forums. lockie or I will be glad to help.

Not sure if it is like Steel Armour Blaze of War with a Tactical / Operational layer.

It's tank sim only, it's the graviteam guys before they were graviteam.  I think it was published by lighthouse who then tanked and went under, so graviteam went on thier own.

I'm dying for graviteam to unify all thier titles and bring WWII to blaze of war.  I want to see all the SABOW improvements added, I actually prefer the engine as a sim instead of an rts.

Hats off to the modders for steel fury, they've added an insane amount of content....but I'd rather they add all the steel fury content to blaze of war.

Asid's dogs of war site has all the links to download the mods.  I tried to download the mod a couple years ago and it took me to one of those sites that make you register to download and it made my antivirus software send up foul play flares so I passed on it.  I don't like downloading mods unless they are from clean sites that don't ask for credentials.  Most likely was a false positive, but I passed on it anyways.  The mod might be hosted at a better site lately...haven't checked.

Are all the mods already JSME ready, just unzip into mod folder and activate. Been waiting for the game to go on sale, which it seems to never do.Might jump now.

Nice pics Asid. Graviteam artwork is great, as is the modders.
