Much like ripping off a band-aid quickly, I'm gonna shoot down that hope right now so as to keep the pain to a minimum. 

Microprose was revived -- technically -- but these are the kinds of games they make now.  :(  The Microprose we knew and loved is gone for good, and what's now in its place isn't even a mockery; it's a complete stranger wearing a dead man's clothes.

My boxed version of World in Conflict was published by Sierra. Now owned by Ubisoft who wanted to acquire the devs Massive Entertainment.

Wikipedia in the Brand name for Interactive Game Group section mentions "....As of 2012, the name is used by a video game studio Microprose (with no capital "P" in the name)...." So there is at least that minor distinction between the late and great MicroProse and its recent wannabe Microprose.
Regardless of how good a PC game may be it will always have its detractors and no matter how bad a PC game may be it will always have its fans.
