I may not agree with the 'yes' vote (it hits too close home with another referendum movement here), but I get alongs well 'enough with Scots, Welsh, Irish, English and Cornish at work.

It'll be interesting deciding where Scotlands territorial waters are. I know Scotland will have its own ideas, but the rest of the UK might think differently. Who decides?

Another thing. Why have the rest of the UK no say in this contended split? It's not as though the issue doesn't affect us, so why shouldn't we have a say also? As things stand, Scots living in the rest of the UK don't get a say, but a new immigrant to Scotland, from say Romania does. Odd isn't it?

I "heard" (read?) some time ago that international boundary where water is present comes 90 degrees off the border of the land masses. If that's the case, it's pretty straight forward

I just read that the polls are showing an almost even split on independence so this might become a very real thing.

What will happen to those who find themselves living on the side of the border opposite the one they were born on? Do they become citizens of the side they are on or do they become 'resident foreign nationals'? Do they get a one time choice of what they wish to be, English or Scottish?

Closer than ever. In fact there was a poll today showing YES with a majority...a small majority, but a majority none-the-less. And that from a poll that has consistently showed NO with a lead. So it most definitely is going to be a real possibility...I still think it'll be very close.

In terms of citizens, they will stay as they are. I, for example, live in England and will be British. However, as I was born in Scotland, I have the right to apply for a Scottish passport. I think my daughters would have to "apply" as would my wife as they were all born in England. Don't forget, even though the Better Together campaign would like everyone to think there would be a new border with border posts, security towers and god knows what else, there are "essentially" no borders in the EU. By that I mean I have as much right to live and work in France, Spain or Germany as I do in the UK. I presume the same will continue.

So anyone born in Scotland can apply and will automatically be granted Scottish citizenship and a passport. Others will have to apply as per normal.

English/EU citizens in Scotland can remain as English/EU citizens or, presumably, they can apply for Scottish citizenship.

I did read about an English politician who said the border would automatically end up being guarded if the Yes vote carried. Guess I know where he stands on the issue.

He's just afraid there'll be an exodus of Englishmen headed north to hurry up and claim their Scottish passports so they can be sufficiently manly :)
