When playing on New Wings - Wargrounds server, I sometimes run the Recon missions in a Bristol F2b or Halberstadt CL.II 2-seater.  Or bombing if those are done.  When doing those missions, a warm body in the rear gunner seat would be great.  The AI is kinda hit & miss.

The F2b comes with a pair of rear guns, but the CL.II requires an add-on for a pair.  Which I have.  I'm just not sure if a person taking over the gunner's seat in the CL.II would need both the aircraft AND the extra gun add-on.  ???

In such situations it's usually the tail gunner's fault.  Especially if he can't see over the lip of the cupola.

I flew as gunner with Tuna a few times last year and enjoyed it, even though it was at times both slow and deadly.

Pretty sure I've only been attacked once or twice out of the 15+ recon missions I've done.  Most of those were the ones near the trenches, however.  There is always a third one further in the enemy rear.  I think part of the reason they don't typically come after you is because you're up high (over 2km alt) and mainly because they don't get any radio'd warning from ground forces if you take the right route in.

Bombing runs can be another story.  Since my level-bombing skills aren't great, I tend to get down to 1km altitude or less and dive bomb.  Then go train hunting and strafe stuff.  That regularly draws enemies around, especially since they get a screen notification when you're buzzing around certain targets down low like that (telephoning you in).   I've actually had a couple kills in the more agile 2-seaters (F2b and CL.II) but a human gunner would be a big help.


EDIT:  Looks like there are a few vets on the Wargrounds server right now.  I may jump on shortly, while they're there.  Even if it means being fresh meat for the taking.  :)

Also... I've been getting a bit of an itch to do some RO2/Rising Storm multi-player again this weekend.  Even though I'll get my ass kicked all over the place.  Anyone mess with the new equipment in the latest update?
