The Penguin's mother. Is this the same actress who played on Taxi as Latka Gravas' girlfriend? With the same accent? Anybody go that far back?

The actress you are thinking of is Carol Kane and she does appear in the IMDB listing for Gotham, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001406/.
She was also in 'Princess Bride' as the old lady wife of Billy Crystal's character. The accent is a theatrical affectation although she may have some kind of medical issue that slightly affects her pronunciation because I remember seeing her in an old Woody Allen film where she spoke so normally I didn't recognize her at first.

Then if it's the same girl I was thinking, she and Andy Kaufman used to do scenes on Taxi where they both played characters from some eastern European country where they go back and forth at each other in a totally impossible to understand native language. It used to crack me up and I always wondered if it was scripted or they just made it up as they went along.

It's back. And was quite good tonight. Finally....Arkam Asylum. And the actor who played Gruber is my favorite villain from Hell On Wheels. Great to see him branching out. O0

Gotham is a pretty enjoyable show. Lots of good actors and a decent script so far.

So now we've got Penguin, Riddler, Scarecrow, and up next.... The Joker. Finally. I really like this series but it kind of feels like they're throwing everybody at us to try to keep our attention. I expect to see a new-born Robin any time now.

So the Season ender was tonight and being clueless about most of the DC comics universe, I was kind of shocked at the final scene. A bus escaping from Arkam Asylum crashes and a bunch of future baddies escapes including an exact twin of a young Bruce Wayne. :o So question DC experts out there, was this a genuine DC villain or a Fox-inspired creation for next season?

Can't think of any DC villain the twin for young Bruce Wayne would be. "Hush" surgically altered himself -- I won't spoil who that is, in case he's on the show already as he might well be (I don't watch the show). There is at least one more villain, maybe two, who were designed as mirror images of Bruce Wayne's life and career, but neither one are twins of Bruce or look close enough to be twins.

Considering how hacky some of the translations of characters to screen have been (both in DC TV shows and TV Marvel, with Gotham being certainly no exception), I would not be surprised if someone thought one of those characters would be improved, or maybe cheaper to do with only one actor, if he also just happened to look exactly like Bruce Wayne.

Consequently, if it isn't a new character I'm going to bet it's Prometheus, the anti-Batman, who might very well have been sent to an asylum (though why Arkham who knows) due to having had his murderous thieving parents shot dead by a cop in front of him. If his hair was white, that would be a major clue -- the boy's hair turned white from the shock. I'm not sure Prometheus' name was ever revealed, so that wouldn't be helpful. (The first, completely unrelated Prometheus did have a name; the New 52 rebooted Prometheus hasn't had a name revealed I think. The "main" post-Crisis supervillain liked to assume other identities, and so like the Joker didn't have a known original identity.)
