Im not impressed.  we still have more 50 year old B-52s alone then their entire bomber fleet.  add to that the fact that we've been running combat missions from the CONUS to Iraq, A-stan and Syria and Im even more not impressed.

Hey! That's Polly Grey on the tail! My dad flew in that squadron (322nd) when it was equipped with Hawker Hunters in the early 60's. It was originally a Dutch-staffed Spitfire squadron in the RAF which was then absorbed into the Royal Dutch Airforce (the KLu) after the end of the 2nd World War.

Yup. The Russian economy is tanking as oil prices fall.

US domestic production is approaching levels where we're about to become the world's largest energy exporter.

Think about that.

Saudi Arabia is boosting production to try and limit US production - it's costlier for us to refine shale oil than their raw oil.

Nevertheless, the net result is too much supply, and prices are falling.

All this saber rattling may be Putin grasping for an attempt to hold on to power.

BTW, my daughter looked up Putin's height last night out of curiosity. He's 5'7". In other words, he's at risk of being mistaken for Gus in a dwarf tossing contest.

I've been hearing/reading a lot about falling prices and the effect on US production. Basically, it will take a prolonged period (6-12months) of oil under $50/bbl to seriously impact US production. There still many ways we can improve shale oil production to reduce the cost per barrel. Even with falling prices, the predictions are for increased US production, though the rate of increase will slow.

Bad news for countries like Russia and Iran. Suck it.

Re: North American oil production -- and that doesn't even count oil sands yet. Sooner or later the technology to use those will be economically viable, and then whew!
