This development really seems shocking given the fact our ghost guard is ineffectual now.

Wow.  I can look across the harbour and see the Dartmouth Coast Guard "base".  Well, it will make prime real-estate for a condo developer.
Any time is a good time for pie.

It seems to me that the Coast Guard is one of those things you don't want to cut. You can argue about whether you need yet another aircraft carrier, but the Coast Guard?
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

Mr. Bigglesworth

Agree. Its about offending fewer people.
What they should do is make each hospital its own corporation with a separate union. Same for schools. None of this job action that takes out the whole Province or country for federal programs.

Bad move. Canada is practically inviting a Godzilla attack.

By the time he's done with them he'll probably be too full to eat any Canadians. So, you guys are good!

Maybe we can hire him as a DFO observer, seeing as how the Harper cabal is so bent on privatization and outsourcing.  Probably be better at it than the Somali "guest" workers we'd end up with otherwise.

why is it that a frakking Conservative government developes a suicide attitude barely 1 year into a majority government????????????????

Mulroney at least had Quebec so he could be stupid.... but this harper crap....arrrrrrrrrrrrrrggghh

For every decent move he makes, and there have been few, either he, Peter Mackay or that bone monkey Bev Oda screw it up.

All the federal cuts to sciences and the environment are going to catch up with us down the path. I'm getting pissed with our political situation

And don't even get me started with people supporting the cry baby Quebec students. Where's Ted when you freakin' need him!

Mr. Bigglesworth

Cuts always are painful. It could be much worse, we could be like the southern EU countries with 50% unemployment and people wanting more handouts from a government that has no money.

So what is worse accelerated reviews for revenue generating resource exploitation projects or far deeper cuts from a broke government? Pick your poison.

One think I really feel is that tax levels are unsustainable. Many people with a lot of skill are just walking away. A prime example was the "King of Condos" in Toronto Brad Lamb who seemed to take his development projects to the Caribbean islands. He might still sell condos but i bet (don't know for sure) he has moved his HQ to some low tax sun filled Island. The Globe and Mail did an article recently where they claimed many Canadians are living overseas. With all Canada has to offer its no toughy to figure out why that may be. The highest Federal tax rate is 29% add 50% of that more provincial, add 5% GST, add 7% PST. If you own a company add 15% corporate tax before any of that. People really need to wake up and realise that will be a flight of capital. Any cushy union jobs will be paid from IOUs. Its not just the Greek lenders that will get a haircut, it is everybody.
