So I'm in Belgium on a trip right now and I went to Ypres to see the Last Post ceremony. The honor guard there last night was made up of a group of soldiers from a large number of NATO armies including Germans, Brits, Danes, Poles, Czechs, and others. And the emotional picture for me was the Brits and the Germans standing side-by-side during the ceremony. . Putin better watch out if the Europeans start supporting these people like they can.

Not that I have any use for Lenin or Stalin, but Putin doesn't belong in their company.

Kruschev managed to lead at Stalingrad, amongst other places. I'd place him in that company well before Putin. What has Putin accomplished? He pushed paper for the KGB. He's a petty, third-world bully. In 50 years no one will remember his name.

That could be troublesome in itself.

Even if he doesn't keep following through on his Russian version of Lebensraum, he's still doing his best to bring Cold War style military confrontation back to the fore.
