I happened to catch this comment from a story on Slate. The story is unrelated to the St. Louis Riots, but the commentator is a Democratic campaign worker and seems to shine some light on part of the problem....

Damn racists makes it so hard to criticize people for talking about race, but here it goes. One of my favorite stories from my last campaign occurred while folding t-shirts we were going to sell. I notice we have "African Americans for Obama", "Asians for Obama", "Women for Obama". We didn't have "White people for Obama". I jokingly said, "Hey, where's my t-shirt?" to my fellow volunteer. To which she replied, when she figured out what I meant, "That is so racist, I can't believe you would say that!!!!" We were literally folding t-shirts that were for sale to specific races of people, and I was being racist for wanting the white guy shirt. I think that kind of mentality goes right up to the top of the Democratic political machine.

Do those accusing every action that they don't like by a white person of being a raciest, realize that they are diluting their message.  Of the several events that they are protesting most about, none of them have been shown to have been committed by a raciest.  Because racist has been used so much to mislabel people simply because they don't like what happened or they don't get their own way, it's loosing it's effect in society, I think. 

I heard a comment back in the '90's, I think, that went something like, These guys think not getting the contract they want is racism.  If they want to know what true racism is, go to the '60's. 

Holder said we're a 'nation of cowards' because we won't have a 'national conversation' about race.  But how could we, when he propels the myth of everyone wrong against a black person is racism, as we saw in Ferguson.

I remember a black friend of mine some time ago said it was impossible for anyone to be racist against a white person. Needless to say we didn't stay friends much longer after that. But if that's the opinion, we're fairly doomed.
