Elite: Dangerous. I broke down.

It's getting on my proverbials now!

I upgraded last night (it took an age - I actually left it updating). Come home tonight, another upgrade and no progress what so ever on the download...zip. Worse, stopping it and exiting does not stop the EDLaunch.exe service and End Process doesn't kill it either. The only way to kill it is to reboot...and it needs a hard reboot because it'll just sit there for an age saying "Shutting Down"...and I can only think it's the EDLaunch process.

Worse - I tried X-Rebirth to get my space kicks whilst I waited to see what was going on with the download and it is awful. They've f*cked something up because the controls are sluggish now...never used to be...no settings changed - just sluggish controls. I can't aim at a thing in it now. On top of that I was almost sick with the garishness of it.

I had less trouble with Elite when it was in bloody BETA.  :-X

I was writing a post explaining that I decided to play the Combat Training missions as they didn't need updating and show that it just sits there and does nothing



But in actual fact, it doesn't "not" do anything - it blue screens your computer

Man - this is an absolute catalogue of failures.

Just tried again - see if it would update this time, and double clicking the Elite icon doesn't even bring up the launcher. It's running - EDLaunche.exe is listed - but there's nothing but my desktop. That's totally different to what I had before. WTF have they done to this?

Still not responding...another hard reboot required...just sits there all greyed out. It was fine at the weekend.

It's been a very, very long time since I've had a game playing up like this.

The game eventually updated but now I'm not even getting the EliteDangerous32.exe showing up now...just the EDLauncher.exe and it stops responding.

It's been absolutely fine (apart from a couple of minor hiccups) during beta. What the hell's gone wrong?

That's really odd JD.  I've had no issues today other than some lag when I happened to get close to one of the more heavily populated starter worlds. 

It's pretty much chaos if you go out to the launch day areas.  I even got attacked outside a station by a very short lived fellow in his stock Sidey. The teeny 200CR bounty paid off my no fire violation when I vaporized him with a well placed railgun shot to his aft.

Well, I was able to get into the Combat Training demo game...but the actual game is still not responding.

I haven't got a clue what's wrong and I'm now royally pissed off...so I need to leave the forums before I blow. £100 and it's been working. Release it and it's f*cking broke for me!

I have no problems either, JD. So it's pretty safe to say it's something on your end messing with Elite...  :-[ I am sorry you're having such troubles.

I would do a clean reinstall. Delete everything that's related to Elite (also in the AppData folder, if there's any entries) and start over from scratch.

For the record, there's pages of issues over at the ED forums where I have now posted and my post is quickly slipping down the first page.

I can't see any posts relating to what I'm experiencing - but there are plenty of issues.

This has rather surprised me given the stability during BETA.

Yup.  Setting up a working interface is a pretty annoying process.

I recommend the Voice Attack software if you haven't looked into it.  It's very helpful.
