Chibs doesn't make much sense in the scheme of things...I mean the IRA connections are obvious, the gun-running and so forth, but that's fairly high-powered for a small club like SOA.

I could be wrong, I've only just started re-watching. In the middle of Episode 4 of Season 1 actually. Chibs doesn't make many appearances thus far, though the AKs were a pretty big plot point.

Interesting. I enjoyed Season 3. It has some slow episodes, but the final few were excellent. And there were some great guest stars that season.

It's basically been four years since I watched Season 3.  And then, it was each episode only once.  But I remember thinking at the time that, "This is a soap opera for men."  It seemed like so many of the plot points were linear and contrived.  I knew Trinity was Jax's sister as soon as she was introduced.  The need for the entire club to go to Ireland.  A host of other things.  It was the weakest season by far for me.

The show always had a soap opera quality to it, even from season 1. The season 2 ending with them all them on the dock and Jax shouting, "He took my son!" was over-the-top and lost me a little after an otherwise fantastic season. At that point, I accepted that it was going to be a show with high melodrama, but it was so well acted and written I could live with the soap.

Don't get me wrong, I love soap operas.  Sometimes, the campier the better.  It just hadn't occurred to me that a bunch of bad ass motorcycle guys could be construed as a soap opera.

The Ireland Season kind of threw me too. How did they get their bikes over there? UPS?  ::)

:) I don't feel as bad now for missing this show the last few years, but I will start taking a look soon.

Soap opera is TOTALLY selling this show short.  Yes, there are elements of it and they happen at some of the weirdest times, but, overall, it's a fine drama and most definitely the best show I have ever watched on television.  Hands down.

maybe among the best shows but not THE best.  dont get carried away.  Breaking Bad was better.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

How are dramas that deal with *somewhat* real life issues NOT all soap operas? I've heard SoA, BB, and WD all called soap operas. Probably The Wire has been as well.

To absolutely noone's surprise, I have never watched Breaking Bad.  So, SoA it is.

The more tv I watch, the more I realize that it's story that keeps me interested.  And a good story has parts of drama, comedy, romance, everything.
