Plus I can't in good conscience get Wasteland 2 without diving in to Fallout: New Vegas or Fallout: Tactics first.

What do you think of Inquisition Gus? Think its worth the sale price? I've heard good things from the podcast I listen to, but I wasn't too keen on the first one (never played DA2). DA1 was ok but it felt too closed to me. From what I hear DA3 is a lot more open world then the first 2, how does it compare to Skyrim?

^I loved Skyrim, except for the towns...they didn't really feel like towns...towns feel like towns in Inquisition, brimming with energy and people.

I also loved the original Dragon Age...never played DA2.

Inquisition can get frustrating at times (like today for me) because there is just so much to do. It took me a couple of hours (after being away for a month) to re-wrap my brain around what I wanted to be doing.

That said, I like the lore of Inquisition probably the best out of any RPG I've ever played...it's just excellent and engaging.

The game runs soild as a rock on my 3+ year old system, looks great, and there are some original game mechanisms that really draw the player in, like being a member of the War Council, assigning different members to different, separate, off screen missions, arranging and rearranging your party, reputation and power ups, and of course your own skill tree, perks and attributes. Inquisition feels very customizable.

It is not truly an open world, but then again neither is Skyrim...there are limits to where you can travel (beyond the usual slaughter of going into an area intended for levels higher than yourself). But this does not take away from the immersion.

After putting about 20 hours in I feel I have just completed the Prologue...I have decided which faction the Inquisition will side with in the ongoing struggle (I chose the Templars). Now the game can truly begin and I feel I can really get going making my Lvl 8 Rogue a true bad ass.

So, in sum, I have got more than my money's worth already at only 20 hours. I loved the original Dragon Age but if you didn't because it felt too closed, well...I think you will have a new favorite RPG soon. Just try to play it for more than short spurts. I played for about 2.5 hours straight today and it is in long sessions like that where I really start to feel things coming together.

Thanks Gus, not that I needed another game but I got it. I've been meaning to do another Skyrim play through but even with mods its growing stale.

Fallout Tactics was a lot of fun for what it is.
but not as fun as taking a Gus to the knee.

Gods only knows how, but I managed to not buy a single damn thing during this last Steam sale. 

I think part of it was I largely already own the games I could've wanted (at least for the moment ::) ).  Another part of it was me studiously avoiding pulling up the Steam page (essentially, me going "lalalala, not listening...!").

Good man.  O0  I'll be curious what your take is on the game if/when you get around to playing it, as it's almost certainly a different experience from Warlock.

It's pretty rough, Gus. I've already decided to put it away for a few months and let them keep working on the game.

Jack, re: DWU, what I hear from people who play it is that you should turn off story events and just sandbox. (I own the game and all expansions up through DWU but have never really fired it up.  :'( Hopefully something to remedy this year if I can resist buying more games.)

What I am hoping to find in EU is a game where the decisions I make actually have some kind of realistic effect on the world, and there is a reasonable possibility of playing out a scenario, campaign, etc with say a 40% chance of "winning".  I had games in DW where I had almost completely exhausted the tech tree and I was STILL getting wasted by an enemy who was sending in armadas with 50+ ships.

Not much Exploration in EU of course... there kind of is, since unlike CK2 the minimap can be fogged, but you know the geography, that hasn't changed much except for a few odds and ends which ironically get complained about in forums sometimes... ;) (There's a county on the Indian coast which today is underwater due to dams but wasn't back then for example. Or maybe it's the other way around, the dams recovered the land, I forget...)

As for a chance of winning, that depends a lot on which faction you choose at which 'bookmark' timestart in the game.

On a separate note, was I the only one totally depressed when the normal Steam page came back up?   :(

I will. It was late by the time it finished downloading, but I did sneak in 20 or so minutes before I went to bed. Visually it looks amazing. Not sure how I feel about the combat yet. I like the 3rd person combat when I'm controlling the character directly, but the tactical mode feels off to me. Probably just me not being used to it.

To bad Bioware has moveed away from mod support in their newer games. Be interesting to see if a mod community similar to the TES games grew up around DA.
