Bob and I were talking the other day about how we missed playing tabletop RPGs and I suggested we check into using Fantasy Grounds to run a game. One thing lead to another and I ended up buying Fantasy Grounds to play around with. That led me to looking into game systems...which led me to Savage Worlds as a quick to get into system...and that led me to the Sundered Skies setting.

So, I'm all set up to run a Sundered Skies campaign. I also ended up picking up an adventure module, so I have enough content to get started.

To play, you'd need to purchase the Fantasy Grounds virtual tabletop client from Steam. You can access the Savage Worlds players guide when connected to my campaign, so you don't need to buy that yourself, but you certainly could if you wanted to. Otherwise, there's no other expense.

Bob's expressed an interest in playing, anyone else want to give it a try? It's been years since I GM'd a game other than for my kids and I've never used this system before, so this will definitely be a learning experience. Any takers?

Would this be an 'everybody send in 1 turn a day' kinda thing or an 'everybody be online at 8pm Sundays' one?

It would be played real time, just like sitting at a table. So, we'd have to schedule sessions with people being online at the same time. It's not PBEM.

On the other hand, at weekends anyway, we could do it for what would be mid-afternoon for you blokes and late evening here. It don't have to be an early morning jobbie :-)

Right, that pretty much exactly what I was thinking since we're looking at UK/US participation. A session a week for a couple of hours on a Saturday or Sunday.

I would love to join.  The buy in is a bit steep though.  For me at least.  Let's see what other interest you can get, including a day and time, and I'll start saving my shekels.

I'll say this - the Savage Worlds system is pretty good, and I enjoyed both the campaigns I played with it.

I'm interested enough in this and impressed enough with Fantasy Grounds that if we can get a couple more people in I may well go ahead and buy the Ultimate Edition of FG. At that point, players would not need to buy the FG software, and could use the demo.

I would be glad to contribute to the cost, if that is the route you are going to take.  If not, it's a matter of convincing my self that my mad money is being well spent on Fantasy Grounds.  It looks great from the little I investigated on Steam.  I am just concerned about how committed all those who say, 'Aye,' to being included will be.

Man, if I had time right now, I'd be all over this.

For those not familiar with it, Savage Worlds is a fantastic system. One character sheet on one side of a page, and that's pretty much it. Get better at something, roll bigger dice. Card draws for initiative and some other checks. Really clean and streamlined with the focus on the game instead of reams and reams of stats.

That's what's really appealing to me about the system. Combine that with the automation in Fantasy Grounds and I think you have a game that's really easy and fast to play, with a decided turn toward nicely cinematic role playing. The Tricks system in Savage Worlds is just fantastic for that.

One way or the other, I'm going to get a group together for this!
