I was and continue to be a huge fan of The Man from UNCLE. I finally checked off my bucket list items of owning an UNCLE "special" and a communicator pen.

I am in.

Is there no end to my youthful joys that must be remade in a politically correct new form? What's next? Hogan's Heroes with the redneck chain gang prison guards from Cool Hand Luke in place of Germans? ;D

Now that you've posted it publicly, your idea is being presented in a pitch meeting somewhere in Hollywood.

Here is a secret that will win any HOTOG bar bets over Man from UNCLE.

When the show went off the air, it's timeslot was taken by Rowan and Martin's Laugh In.  On the premier episode, they had the party skit, where everyone was dancing and then froze as a joke was spoken.
During the skit, the bartender had his back to the camera.  At the end, the bartender turned around and it was Mr. Waverly (Leo G. Carroll).  He pulled the communicator pen out of his pocket and said, "Solo, I think I've found Thrush Headquarters."

No one remembers this trivia.
"Most gods throw dice, but Fate plays chess, and you don't find out until too late that he's been playing with two queens all along".  Terry Pratchett.

During filming of Airplane, Leslie Nielsen used a whoopee cushion to keep the cast off-balance. Hays said that Nielsen "played that thing like a maestro"

Tallulah Bankhead: "I'll come and make love to you at five o'clock. If I'm late, start without me."

I like that the film is set in the 60s and not a present date re-imagining.

I didn't see any political correctness in that trailer.  :coolsmiley:

Dawn of Armageddon -- narrative AAR for Dawn of War: Soulstorm: Ultimate Apocalypse

Mostly just the whole America teams-up with the USSR angle for me. I always got the impression neither agent worked for any government but for a global agency battling a global criminal organization. Especially Kuraykin who's employment and origin was very secretive. Just a minor point though.

Staggerwing

Illia Kuraykin is supposedly a Soviet Navy intelligence operative who is seconded to UNCLE under a secret international agreement. IIRC he has occasional contact with his Soviet superiors during the original series.

I just hope that David McCallum gets a cameo.

Kuryakin was too cool to be Russian. Remember in the 60's only the Brits were allowed to be cool.

He's from Kiev, a Soviet citizen- but not Russian.  True story.

Well I wonder what he thinks about Russians today. :P
