^^ You could hack the Balders/Icewind games like that, too (or at least BG1, and I don't know why they'd take that out). Since the games were designed for a co-op option (with whoever is currently top of the list being the 'main character' for plot, including at least one plot-related instadeath in BG1 which kills the game if only one player put his character in the lead ;) ), it's entirely possible to go to multiplayer, fill out as much of the list as you want with created characters, and then play that multiplayer game solo in control of all the characters. Keep a slot open to add plot-triggering NPCs if necessary.

Promptly wishlisting if I haven't done already, but dang I haven't even finished BG1 and NWN1, much less the other things (including Planescape: Torment, TEE). Waaaay too much good RPG backlog to add to it.  :-\
ICEBREAKER THESIS CHRONOLOGY! -- Victor Suvorov's Stalin Grand Strategy theory, in lots and lots of chronological order...
Dawn of Armageddon -- narrative AAR for Dawn of War: Soulstorm: Ultimate Apocalypse
Survive Harder! -- Two season narrative AAR, an Amazon Blood Bowl career.
PanzOrc Corpz Generals -- Fantasy Wars narrative AAR, half a combined campaign.
Khazâd du-bekâr! -- narrative dwarf AAR for LotR BfME2 RotWK campaign.
RobO Q Campaign Generator -- archived classic CMBB/CMAK tool!

Sir Slash

I've barely scratched the surface yet but will echo the above impressions. So far very stable on my older system and beautiful to look at. But plenty of new features to separate and improve the play from BG. You can really get down in the weeds with all kinds of numbers and stats if you want but just click and move works well too. You can make this game complex if you want, but don't have to. Also pretty tough on "Normal" difficulity so I'd recommend just playing on "Easy" while you get comfortable with and then jump up a level if you want. Character Creation is a load of fun by itself. Lots of neat features to make play more enjoyable and very polished overall. More thoughts soon.

Skip NWN1, and go straight to Hordes of the Underdark. HotU for me ranks right up there with BG2 and Throne of Bhaal.

Have you finally achieved that long-sought erection? :P

As much as I said I liked this game yesterday, I like it even more today after a few more hours playing. This is the cRPG I've been waiting on for years.  :smitten:

I might have run into this bear myself.  I'm going to level up a bit and come back to kick it's ass and make a rug of it's hide.

Grim.Reaper

Surprise, surprise....I caved and purchased this as well.  Looks like some deep character creation, but that is where I always struggle.....trying to figure out how exactly to create my character with all those options.  I am always afraid I will mess something up and will regret it later.....just curious, anyone come across any kind of strategy guide yet on how best to create a character?

More character mechanic options = more replayability.  :)

Just read the stat, skill, etc descriptions and just pick stuff that sounds like it synergizes.   ^-^

I would already own this game if I weren't in a PC gaming hiatus.  Will pick it up at GOG when I get around to one of the regular RPG moods.  Sounds great.

Gamespot just posted a video with character creation tips. There doesn't seem to be any one type superior to others. They all have strengths and weaknesses. Probably simplest is the fighter/tank at the start.

I've started off with a fighter for just that reason. I have to say that the chanter and cipher look interesting but I'm hoping to get some experience with them as NPCs first before I try them as my primary.

Sir Bear beat on me too. I went and found some friends and made bear kabobs.

Silent Disapproval Robot

I made a rogue that somehow morphed into a pirate after some dialogue options.  The only party member I've found so far is a mincing elf wizard.  I hate elves.  I tried to choose dialogue options so I could side with the town drunks and pummel said elf but I still ended up with it in my party.  Oh well at least the bear is dead.  Now I keep getting killed by spidery things on the roadside.

Ok, this sentence alone will make me buy the game, ha!
