Not tried it yet, but just a heads up to all that it was a full download of ES, not just a patch to A2...

I tried it but haven't played very long.  The two changes I noticed is you start with 5 tactics cards instead of 3, and that the only colonizeable world is the one on which you start (unless I just had some very bad luck).

wow this disappeared down the threads quickly - i crumbled and purchased in the steam spec. offer - only £17, barring gal civ 2 which i never did justice to it will be my first proper 4x space game - summer full release - looking forward to this very much

Too many games, not enough time!  Seems like a lot of games have been released lately and there have also been some good sales/deals.  Just recently I've picked up Endless Space, Warlock, Crusader Kings 2, Naval War Arctic Circle, Steam and Iron, Port Royale 3, and SH5.  Hopefully with the long weekend coming up I'll have some time to get into ES.  Now excuse me, I have to go to my Wargamer Anonymous meeting  :o

This game is pretty much at the top of my list, but as Steve, I have too many games and too little time.  This is an amazing time to be a strategy gamer!  Can't remember the last time I said that!

Yeah, and on a similar note, its a great time to be into Space 4x games with distant worlds, Armada, endless Space, Gemini wars and Legends of Pegasus. Plus, DONT LOOK NOW, but Sword of the Stars 2 has been patched up quite nicely and has brilliant tactical space combat.

Endless Space beta release is 6/4.

The beta will include the following new features (on top of many bugs and other changes since the first alpha):

  • 8 playable factions: previous 5 plus the Amoeba, Sowers and the Pilgrims (art work above)
  • Multiplayer enabled! You'll be able to play against 7 other players online
  • German and French languages

It has been playable for quite some time now.  Kerberos still releases large patches every two weeks followed by a number of smaller ones in the day or two thereafter.
