Extra pain points for being subtly reminded (by HISHE) that the awesome Misty Mountains theme was never used again for either H2 or H3.

Despite my (many) complaints, though, I've enjoyed the films more on subsequent watches (I watched H3 again this past weekend in fact on rental), and I'm willing to go for the H3 Extended edition on principle. (I'm hoping, without much hope, that the ExEd will tie up Thranduil's side of the story by clarifying the gems were meant as a memorial gift for his slain beloved wife, which is why he was about to go to war with Thror previously before Smaug arrived. A curiously subtle point from the first movie, btw. Also, I'm hoping they don't finally skimp out on Beorn, the Eagles, and the Seventh Doctor slaughtering the Orc reinforcement army. But I suspect they will...  :-\) Considering the relative lack of prep time and how much difficulty happened in production, it's a flat out miracle they're as good as they are.

Still, yeah, so many convenient plot holes. ("..wait, you're attacking immediately?" "Sh'yeah, there's only twelve of them." {Elven ninja army instantly wins})

Also, one not mentioned by either video (wonder if CinemaSins will pick it up): it somehow takes days for the Laketown dwarves to get from the Lake in a boat to the front gate (because Thorin has been glomping over the gold for days already), but took less than a full day for the first group of dwarves to get from Laketown across the lake in a boat to well beyond the front gate.
