I never got further than the first of the Zahn trilogy but it was a good read. I've always thought there should be a follow-up of the Star Wars story. I want to know what happened to all the characters after the drunken Ewok party.

Let's not retroactively pretend that the original movies were some intergalactic version of War & Peace. They're pretty much simple action flicks at heart, too. Carrying on with that would just make sense.

Star Wars was released in 1977 - I was 15 years old.  Every one of those actors is at least in their very late 50s to 1960s.  Carrie Fisher is 59 in October.  Expecting Ms. Fisher to look physically like she is 21 when she is 59 is silly.

I was a little younger than you when Star Wars hit.  I was enthralled.  I couldn't WAIT for Empire, and having seen that, couldn't wait for Jedi.  Each release was bigger than the last and at my age, I truly thought they were the best ever. 

Now, as a grown man, I am a little afraid of going back to watch them again.  I already know that Jedi is a horrible mess that should have been nuked from orbit for including Ewoks.  And New Hope and Empire can't be nearly the thrill ride I found them as a youth if for no other reason than I am more cynical.

The Empire Strikes Back had a hippie dippie Muppet.  Jedi had a sea of Muppets.  Then we got Jar Jar.  Sort of speaks for itself.

I was all of 2  years old when my mother took me to see the first Star Wars. 

Actually she was taking herself.  Being a pregnant sci-fi fan, taking a 2-year old to the movie theater only stopped her for about two weeks because she was afraid I would be a little asshole and piss other people off.  But I was reportedly locked in and staring at the screen the whole time - not a peep.  :)

It's in my blood.  That's my excuse.

^We're really close in age. I was three when Star Wars was released to theaters. My Grandma took me to see it (she loved sci-fi) but apparently I spent the whole two hours staring at the woman behind me instead of watching the movie :)
