Odd. I just read a tweet that contained something very similar about Sega, Sega France and Creative Assembly that turned out to be a false rumor. Something is in the air over in Europe today.

i think this is a polite way of saying it hasnt worked out - im thinking maybe Paradox got all high and mighty about the Clausewitz engine and the 2 Phils have thought there is no way theyre letting the AGE engine go and have stuck to their guns - im beta testing Alea Jacta Est and it looks astounding

This is an interesting developement.  I did have my wonders about the direction of the new Napoleon's Campaign 2.  The talk about the game was a development toward a more HOI style game, which is not necessarily a bad thing but not the more true to history style of previous Ageod games.  I wish them the best of luck.  There is a some good potential on the horizon with the new development plan using the AJE model and they've stated a renewed effort to polish up PoN.

Sounds like a marriage of convenience  became no longer convenient.  I enjoy each of their products. May they both emerge stronger.

I was so thankful to hear that AGEOD was going to stick with the Athena gamine engine for this one. Glad to hear it looks good. Hoping for a late summer release...realistic?

As a conspiracy theory, I'd think this was more driven by PI.  The lure of a new game opening a new and popular era in the style of a HOI grand strategy was too much to not have control over it's development.

Well, they're still technically under the Paradox banner, so this isn't a full bore separation.

Actually, I think it's pretty commendable on both sides. They realize they work better as singular companies, and Paradox is willing to do that. they aren't forcing the France team to change their way of doing business, they're giving them development autonomy. That's pretty rare.

I'm sure that there is a back story we will never hear about regarding this development.  At least for both their sakes, it seems to be an amicable seperation.

I'm so glad that AGEOD has liberated themselves from the yoke of oppression.  They have the better brains, game engines, concepts, etc. than Paradox of late.

Sounds like the development houses will be run separately - not too dissimilar to how many major publishers operate today. I think this is probably a smart decision on both of their parts.

Wow, I'll admit I'm surprised by this news.  I'm not displeased, though -- I think AGEOD is much better off being able to operate autonomously. 

I hope they try to fix PoN and not just throw it on the dustheap.

They already announced they've begun work on a new update, so it doesn't sound like they're abandoning it.
