Total War: Warhammer - "Coming Soon"?

Sadly I don't know crap about Warhammer.  My nerd cred is low to non-existent on that one.

Even more sadly I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that there are no current plans for CA to revisit Medieval anytime soon.   :(

My knowledge of the Warhammer universe is similarly slim.  But then, all we really need to know is that the Dwarfs, Skaven, Orcs, and Vampire Counts are trying to kill each other.  What else is necessary to know?  :D

I'll believe that when I see it.  ::)  As with Rome II, if the demand for Medieval 3 is there, they will make it.

Well ancient China would still be awesome, although right now that would feel somewhat redundant with Oriental Empires coming out. 

Failing that, I'm hoping for Medieval 3.  I also wouldn't mind seeing Empire 2 -- provided it's actually done correctly this time, of course...

^Excellent trailer. I will never understand the hate over this series. It has accomplished so much in a niche where so many others have failed or were simply too scared to tread. Each game in the series has been epic, in my opinion and I look fondly upon the past and eagerly upon the future.

Agree with all of this, anything that has ever troubled me and I honestly couldn't recall what, has always been patched away

It's an awesome series that should be championed, not torn down every time a new one comes out

Some bits I found particularly interesting/cool: 

Players draw heroes to their faction which then carry out actions on the campaign map. These shamans have skill trees and level up through the campaign. They are also sent on individual assassination missions during the over-map campaign, just like spies and assassins in, for example, Total War: Attila.

The magic system is based, of course, on Warhammer. "We're using a system called the winds of magic, which is from the Warhammer tabletop game," explains Mann. "There is magic around the world, and it increases and decreases depending on where you are. It's very much a geographic thing."

Fantasy brings another new dimension to the series. Giant winged creatures tussle with one another and then attack ground forces. It's the first time a Total War game has included aerial combat. "Aerial units are brilliant at striking enemies behind the line of combat, that you wouldn't otherwise be able to get to," says Mann.

Hell.  Yes.   



Oh, and for Gus: 

The Empire fires off guns and arrows. It also has recourse to some very effective fantasy artillery pieces: medieval war machines and Steam Tanks.

"The Empire and [their allies] the dwarfs are very firearm-oriented," says Mann.

The Third Age mod for M2TW has done many of these fantasy units types, Trolls, Giant Spider Cavalry, Ents, and Balrogs. And done them very well. The giant-sized units actually fit in real well it that game.
